Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Exceedingly Riveting
Revisado: 03-15-23
I came into the read as a supporter of M+H and this read helped me truly appreciate why they need supporters like me. Harry did a great job being balanced and fair with his accounts of others while also staying true to his experience. I’m glad he didn’t sugarcoat his thoughts and feelings for fear of how the institution would receive them. This will live beyond H+M and the others in power and it’s an admirable account of a courageous and heartbreaking life which has been wrested from the royal institution and put onto a path of peace and joy. I’ll forever be praying for their little family.

Is it Bad That I like Matthew Perry Less Now?
Revisado: 02-04-23
After seeing his Dianne Sawyer interview I was so intrigued and bought the book. It contains some interesting info about addiction that helps me understand the disease better and I’m grateful for that, but overall it was a boring book. I feel bad saying that because MP is so forthcoming in his honesty but his explanation for the life choices makes is rather simplistic. He also thinks VERY highly of himself and his success. And while some of that may be warranted, I say with a shoulder shrug, his constant reminder that he and Michael J. Fox had the #1 shows and movies is supremely braggy. Also his claim that he changed the way Americans speak. Ok, calm down.
He came from privilege and made some douchey decisions because of real trauma he experienced. It would have been great to see some reflection on how if he had a different skin tone or was born in a lower socioeconomic class all of his shenanigans would’ve turned out much differently.
His explanation of why romantic relationships failed try to draw sympathy but it’s much more easy for me to sympathize with the unexplored stories of how his behavior impacted the women in his life. Further, the jumpy way the timeline goes back/forth makes the stories seem redundant. In all honesty I have a little over an hour left to go but he’s retelling a story in detail once again so I’m done. I can surmise how this ends. Thank you, next.

Historia
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Finbar Dolan is lost and lonely. Except he doesn’t know it. Despite escaping his blue-collar Boston upbringing to carve out a mildly successful career at a Madison Avenue ad agency, he’s a bit of a mess and closing in on 40. He’s recently called off a wedding. Now, a few days before Christmas, he’s forced to cancel a long-postponed vacation in order to write, produce, and edit a Superbowl commercial for his diaper account in record time. Fortunately, it gets worse....
