Historia
I decided that Orion Lake needed to die after the second time he saved my life. Everyone loves Orion Lake. Everyone else, that is. Far as I’m concerned, he can keep his flashy combat magic to himself. I’m not joining his pack of adoring fans. I don’t need help surviving the Scholomance, even if they do. Forget the hordes of monsters and cursed artifacts; I’m probably the most dangerous thing in the place. Just give me a chance and I’ll level mountains and kill untold millions, making myself the dark queen of the world.

Love this original tale!
Revisado: 02-27-25
Original story. Great grouchy heroine. Love Novik’s work and this story did not disappoint. The narrator did a great job of bringing the tale to life.

Karadok is one of my favorite series, and this one does not disappoint! Konrad and Aimee’s tail leaves me with a smile on my face. I am a sucker for love breaking down walls of the grouch. I look forward to the rest of the series as audiobooks!

All the Feels

You want drama? Romance? Bravery? Family? Tears? Then this book is for you. Each book has gotten better and better. The plot(s) moves forward in major ways, several hints from earlier in the series get fleshed out, and we learn more about the world they live in.
I can’t believe the cliff hanger!!! Please don’t take too long on the next book; my imagination can’t take the wait.

Beware hot cousins of roommates
Revisado: 07-30-22
Absolutely loved this story about Ari and Jihoon. She’s a lawyer working towards partner. He’s run to Toronto to escape a bad breakup. Being together is first awkward, then easy and it soon feels like home. But his secrets can’t stay hidden forever.
I love this author in how she writes well-rounded characters facing challenges, who work through them to come out better together on the other side. Jihoon is absolutely swoon-worthy but he’s not perfect. Ari’s strong, smart and capable, who isn’t perfect either. The challenge they face before their HEA doesn’t feel forced or thrown in there because the 3rd act has to have one.
Phillips Soo did a great job giving voice to the different characters and helped make this a book that I couldn’t put down or stop listening to. Definitely one I will listen to again.

Pleasant but not really memorable
Revisado: 06-18-21
There’s nothing really out of the ordinary that happens; it’s a typical modern day romance novella and follows that formula.
As far as the audio, both narrators did a good job. It just didn’t seem like their voices meshed well, so that swapping from 1 to the other was a little jarring at times, which is why I didn’t give them a 5.

It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.

The accidental right call
Revisado: 05-16-21
Her secret crush accidentally texts. He has no idea who she is. They’re both insomniacs with a penchant for reality tv. Thus begins the start of a relationship that will change both their lives for the better.
This was enjoyable, encouraging and a definite 5 star. Both characters are 3-d and their lives are far from fairy tale, which makes the development of their relationship all the more engaging. While I guessed who JD was and why she was hiding her identity long before the story revealed it, it didn’t detract from the pleasure of watching their relationship develop. I definitely recommend because these are real people dealing with real life and wonderfully finding each other along the way.

Historia
Arch-swindler Moist von Lipwig never believed his crimes were hanging offenses, until he found himself with a noose around his neck, dropping through a trap door, and falling into...a government job? Getting the moribund Postal Service up and running again, however, may be an impossible task. Worse, the new Postmaster could swear the mail is talking to him.

Do you believe in Angels?
Revisado: 01-11-20
I’m not talking about the kind that grace today’s YA fiction, but the kind that Lord Ventinari speaks of, who offer a scoundrel a second chance at life (only once though) while providing a job and a hat. Moist von Lipwig (pronounced Lip-vig) does. A confidence man whose game ran out, he’s offered the job of Post Master General. No one uses the post anymore, because nothing’s ever delivered. All that’s left are 2 postal employees: a junior postman fond of horribly-smelling home remedies and an apprentice postman fond of collecting pins. And mail, mountains and mountains of mail. Some say it’s got a life of its own.
And so begins one of my favorite Discworld books. It’s been so well liked that it spawned 2 other Moist adventures and a BBC adaptation. This audiobook lives up to this legacy and doesn’t disappoint. Stephen Briggs does an excellent job of capturing the narrator’s tongue-in-cheek tone while imbuing the characters with personality and distinctiveness. Some narrators aren’t as adept, but luckily this rollicking tale is narrated by someone with talent. If you’re a fan of Terry Pratchett, this is not one to miss.

Less than Stellar Narration
Revisado: 12-09-19
The plot is enjoyable but Quinn’s interpretation of dialogue often felt incongruous to the action at hand, I think because it lacked the emotional heart of the scene. Unlike the rest of the series, this one was narrated by Nicole Quinn rather than Rebecca De Leeuw. I found I missed De Leeuw’s narration. The incongruity between the narration and the actual emotions got to me and after a while, the scratchiness of her voice became grating. I don’t think it would have bothered me without that dissonance.
