Historia
Clete Purcel—private investigator, ex-member of the New Orleans Police Department, and war veteran with a hard shell and just a few soft spots—is Dave Robicheaux’s longtime friend and partner in detective work. But he has a troubled past. When Clete leaves his car at the local car wash, only to return to find it ransacked by a group of thugs tied to the drug trade from Mexican cartels to Louisiana, it feels personal—his grandniece died of a fentanyl overdose, and his fists curl when he thinks of the dealers who sold it.

thrillingly written
Revisado: 09-04-20
Having listened to every book in this series narrated by Will Patton, I can say with all my being, Mr. Patton comes alive with energy as he reads the incredibly written words of Mr. Burke. I will listen to anything Mr. Patton reads.. His voice, his character's voices, his energy and passionately expressed intonations, are a delight and you can tell how much he appreciates the work of Mr. Burke. This particular subject, of "a time traveling villain of sorts" was not my favorite and it kinda of fell apart at the end... leaving me wondering how this experience of Robicheaux and Cleat left them feeling... and what happened to Gideon. Maybe, I have to hear the ending again. Not my favorite Robicheaux novel, but, I love the writing and reading so much it does not matter.

Historia
They struck in a pack, in the dead of night. They had crept in like thieves, like the cowards they were...but it wasn't robbery they had in mind. It was something much darker. Smoke Jensen was buying cattle 100 miles away from his Colorado ranch when he got the news. Drawing two horses from the remuda, he saddled up, rode off...and didn't stop until he reached his wife's side. She had been shot three times, and lay close to death. Smoke Jensen knew the outlaws had come to kill him. He wouldn't give them a second chance. He was going after them. And he wasn't taking any prisoners.

In this epic Western by USA Today best-selling author William W. Johnstone, the distinction between lawman and outlaw gets hazy once the gun smoke thickens. But even the straightest arrow can bend when shot into a corrupt hellhole like Yuma.

Suspenseful, breathtaking drama passionately narrated and beautifully written. A character described as the archetypal man. Oh would there be such a man in reality as Frank Morgan Alas. He is fictional and a hero to die for.

Historia
Sonchai Jitpleecheep, the devout Buddhist Royal Thai Police detective who led us through the best sellers Bangkok 8 and Bangkok Tattoo, returns in this blistering novel. Sonchai has seen virtually everything on his beat in Bangkok's District 8, but nothing like the snuff film he's just been sent anonymously. Furiously fast-paced and laced through with an erotic ghost story that gives a new dark twist to the life of our hero, Bangkok Haunts more than lives up to the smart and darkly funny originality of its predecessors.

this series should have ended on a better note
Revisado: 10-22-19
The characters are no longer interesting.. somehow, the thrill that I used to get with this series is gone.. this book killed it.. too bad. I recommend the first 5 books.. and skip this.. leaving a better memory of this colorful series before this last book tried to milk out just one more.. boring... really boring.. could not finish..

George Guidal
Revisado: 10-22-19
There are no words for the narration of George Guidal... the way his voice changes for different characters, like a play being acted out on stage with different cast members.. and different actors.. even the women... he is amazing.... I fear that as he ages we may lose his talents... I listen to books only to hear him sometimes. However, on the westerns such as this one, he is especially great and the story is so evocative of the Old West..

Historia
A deeply divided nation. A shamelessly partisan media. A president loathed by half the populace. Smuggling and gang warfare along the Mexican border. Armed citizens willing to stand their ground and take law into their own hands.... That was America in 1881. All those forces came to bear on the afternoon of October 26 when Doc Holliday and the Earp brothers faced off against the Clantons and the McLaurys in Tombstone, Arizona. It should have been a simple misdemeanor arrest. Thirty seconds and 30 bullets later, three officers were wounded, and three citizens lay dead in the dirt.
