Incredible, great story. Good action
Revisado: 03-10-25
Nice character developments, friendships, and losses.
Still similar to book 1, a soldier trying to survive, and making friends along the way.
Can’t wait for book 4

Mostly stats, in a monotone voice.
Revisado: 03-09-25
Chapters 11-20 we’re almost nothing but stats. There was a battle, and then stats for a long time, and then immediately after that chapter was a chapter titled “Stats”.
, where it continued. Literally hours of real time, listing stats. HOURS . Are you kidding
This had my interest and then became unbearable.
World building was near non existent. And instead of describing a battle scene, it would say its like a horror movie.
This was also annoying.
Imagine a picture of a characters stat board, it’s read to you and then debated regarding pros and cons of new possible abilities. Then a small bit of story. Then stats again

Seamlessly builds on the first books writing, the chapters literally continue off the last chapter in previous book.
Having enjoyed the first, this is the same but more of it. The leveling system and magic, is cool

Narrator is good.
Revisado: 12-04-23
I read these books when I was a kid, they are among my most favorite series of books and having it on Audible is great.
Like many reviewers, since the Dragon speaks telepathically, I imagined the voice as more
human-like when I originally read the series once or twice as a kid.
However, the narrators interpretation and performance of Saphira I have begun to enjoy. It is a dragon, after all, and should have a bit of rumble to it. This distinction is is actually quite nice, as no humans sound that way.
The other voices and characters are well done enough, I’m 2/3 through book 1.
Yeah, that was mostly a review of the narrator. Which I did because of all the negative reviews.
The story itself needs no review, because it is top notch; contains depth and development, is old and probably an inspiration to many fiction writers today, and was already a published success before becoming available on Audible.
Safe to say I grabbed every volume here while it was on sale.

Nick Podehl fan, no problem here.
Revisado: 10-09-23
I was very concerned about continuing the series but this turned out great, The performance is actually really good.
good timing since the dragon had evolved to a larger one now.
Fyi I was only interested in the dragon part of the story and in book one I skipped chapters until it started, so I listened at Chapter 5, and skipped at least another chapter or two of “home life”.
Here in book two the kid is older and at like an acadamy/college so its not as bad. All in all the story has been getting more interesting and surprisingly better

Book 5, sorta. Make sure to read KDT first.
Revisado: 07-23-22
Kings Dark Tidings books 1-4 were published and released first, and that’s where we learned to love Wesson. Do that and this book will make a LOT more sense.
Hearing the backstory of a big and favorite character is awesome. Btw, all the KDT books (and Mage of no Renown) are funny, soo awesome, and have incredibly developed characters that evolve, learn and grow.
Its been a great journey and its not even over.
I’ve re-listened to this series more than any other,
and being narrated by the Legend Nick Podehl, where I can pick out a characters voice instantly across 5 novels is simply amazing and entertaining.
Nice work Kel Kade

Not an audiobook,
Revisado: 03-22-22
It’s like a MOVIE! Full scale production. This was amazing.
Audiobooks helped me stay awake and drive safely on road trips, and I credit good authors and talented Narrators for that.
I love it when I find one that has more than one narrator and even sound effects, it can become incredible.
I have my boring semi interesting books if I need a background filler during the day, and a list of favorite authors and Narrators for a little more attention. And one like this, if I really need it to grab my attention.
Well done!

What do you do when there are no more challenges in your life? For Stavin Ne'Aniston Zel'Andral, the thrill of being a prince had rapidly paled. He was a prince of Evandia, but would never sit on the throne. He was the first person to earn the four hollowed stars of a Senior Warmaster, but was forbidden to participate in a war. He was a scribe who would never teach anyone but his own children. He was a scholar who didn't have time to research anything but trade. All his hopes and dreams, his plans for the future, had fallen aside when King Kalin had adopted him.

It seemed that he had achieved everything he wanted. But it only seemed that way to others. Now Chosen, he is Prince Stavin, Warmaster Zel'Andral. While the fate of Farindia remains an open question, Kel'Kavin is now Evandian territory. Stavin takes his family to Twin Bridges to introduce them to King Kalin, and finds new challenges.
