Doesn’t quite live up to the juiciness promise, and there are some nice tidbits, but the book suffers from not enough interviews of the Housewives themselves or those in their spheres and is padded out by bits at Bravocon that I’m not sure we’re necessary. It’s still a fun read for any fan, but I went in kind of expecting more, and this is kind of shocking to say in connection to the Housewives, depth.

I don’t usually read urban fantasy, but this was the selection for a fun book club and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Well-written and engaging. Excited for the next book.

I felt like the author here, who still is in the First Lady’s press pool, just didn’t want to step on any toes. The book plays it too safe, and where the author says the First Lady is guarded, you get the impression the author never got in close enough to fill a book. Most of what’s here is corroborated by other media reports, yes, but not much we don’t already know. I wanted a deeper dive.

Another great lecture series from Dorsey Armstrong! Fascinating and insightful. She definitely does her homework and makes it digestible for her audience.

A fascinating account of Mayor Pete’s time in office and on the campaign trail, and a poignant romance with his husband.

Good Content But Terrible Narrator

I'm not one to write negative reviews, but this is quite simply the worst narrator of an audiobook I've ever heard. It's not that the reading is unclear; it's that there are so many mispronunciations of words and Scottish place names that it's frankly distracting and mildly insulting (and I'm not even Scottish). A simple google search would teach this narrator how to pronounce Glasgow, Edinburgh, Hebrides, and even words like primogeniture, exorbitant, and adjudicate. The last word forced me to rewind the audiobook a few times so I could understand what word he was trying to say with the context clues. Moreover, there was the botching of dates, like saying 1920 when he absolutely had to have meant 1290. I'm not sure if the narrator read the copy ahead of time, but simple research would help this narrator do his homework. Embarrassingly bad for a profession where thousands of trained actors and readers could have done this better.

Juicy Book But Terrible Narration

I know this is read by the author, and that's usually a good thing, but I really wish the author had hired an actor to read this. His inflection and delivery is flat. I understand he might not want to "impersonate" these celebrities, but the narration is just really unengaging.

I loved this book! Engaging from start to finish and with a compelling voice. Excellent narration as well, completely catching Montague’s wry sensibilities.
