C.L. Berns,

Projection of the story was good.
Ultimately, this narration was not great for me. The biggest issue I had was use of cadence and tempo of sentences using 1 or more commas. This was an in-between of: monotone teacher from Ferris Bueller's Day Off to Perfectly in-Sinc Librarian tier storytelling with perfectly balanced neutral and emotional narration. I would give narration 2.5 stars. Potential is there, work on your spacing and tones on paragraphs with commas.
Narration gets better through the collection.

A mind-coaster of vamphyric GREATNEEEEEESS
Revisado: 05-08-23
Mind boggling body horror, lore, virtually nonstop love for classic vampiric storytelling. Book 3 kills it.
Best vampire novel I have EVER read/listened to. 100%.
These stories don't need screen adaptations. A book has never painted such vivid images in my head. Pure art.

Historia
A strange plague called the "Gets" is decimating humanity on a global scale. It causes people to forget - small things at first, like where they left their keys... then the not-so-small things like how to drive, or the letters of the alphabet. Then their bodies forget how to function involuntarily - and there is no cure. But now, far below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, deep in the Marianas Trench, an heretofore unknown substance hailed as "ambrosia" has been discovered - a universal healer, from initial reports.

Great Story, heard it before
Revisado: 08-22-21
The Deep was a highly engaging story with a great plot that stimulated the senses. The length of the story and character development was enough to make the listener/reader feel emotion for most, if not all of the characters. This was my favorite aspect of the story and Brill provided good narration with energy that was not over the top. The events of the book did not keep me waiting for more and I thought of it as a pretty good rollercoaster...
Do not get me wrong, this story is WORTH it, however, most of the story seemed to cross the line from "highly-inspired" to "unimaginative." I constantly found myself referring back to classic and modern horror stories and films from memory that this story so obviously pulls from. I feel that Carpenter's The Thing and S. King's Under the Dome were at the top of that list with other seemingly obvious pulls from the horror genre all around.
Give this book a listen, if not for the originality, for the sheer entertainment of classic horror nods with slightly new twists and takes on brutal body-horror and Lovecraftian vibes!!
