The story itself follows the importance of a normal person in a fantastical world. this book is very slow and low key, likely on purpose. Go in with no expectations of an adventure book and you'll get enjoyment out of it.

The voice actor has great range of voices that they can do, on top of knowing when to pause for great effects. Story itself was very good, and just the right length of time to constantly push to the end. Great read!

Mackenzi and Lucy go into great detail about how the women of our past affected our future without being boring or demeaning to the male gender. I appreciate their true feminism in calling out the good things women have done without being unfair to the opposite sex. After all, feminism is about equality, not supremism (as some would have you believe).

Normally, I have a gripe about books. Not this one. With all the classic parts of fantasy, you forget that this is technically sci-fi. The world is explored by the protagonist and he feels real. All of his struggles and fears are appropriate, even down to how he handles the bad guys. Love where the story is, and I already downloaded the second book so I can continue learning about this fantastic apocalypse.
