Historia
In In Order to Live, Yeonmi Park shines a light not just into the darkest corners of life in North Korea, describing the deprivation and deception she endured and which millions of North Korean people continue to endure to this day, but also onto her own most painful and difficult memories. She tells with bravery and dignity for the first time the story of how she and her mother were betrayed and sold into sexual slavery in China and forced to suffer terrible psychological and physical hardship before they finally made their way to Seoul, South Korea - and to freedom.

Love the positivism
Revisado: 11-15-22
Gabriel is very sweet and smart. They both are and it’s lovely to see how much they love each other. I always find it interesting when people share their life story — and it’s nice that he opened up and talked about his experiences. Some people “milk” their life experiences and think it’s deeper than it actually is, I got the vibes like that at first but he comes from a place of love and the way he talks about faith, God & Jesus is absolutely beautiful. I feel like I’m listening to a friend, and it’s refreshing. Not everything has to be huge or leave you rethinking your life choices. This was nice.

Historia
For the lucky among us, life is what you make of it, but for Dixie Wheeler, the theme music for her story was chosen by another long ago, on the day her father butchered her mother and brothers and then slashed a knife across his own throat. Only one-year-old Dixie was left alive, infamously known as Baby Blue for the song left playing in the aftermath of the slaughter. Twenty-five years later, Dixie is still desperate for a connection to the family she can’t remember, so when her childhood home goes up for sale, Dixie sets aside all reason and moves in.

Perfection
Revisado: 10-08-22
Amazing story with the right about of suspense, emotions, and ugh… everything. The narrator is incredible and I LOVED all the characters - especially Mr. Collins! Worth a read - I know I will read it again! First couple of chapters spooked me out a little bit but then I dragged it on purpose because I didn’t want it to end LOL! Kudos to the writer for this amazing story.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 09-13-22
Hooked from the beginning although I found there were tooooo many unnecessary details that made the story super long. The plot twist is somewhat predictable but I totally fell in love with the characters so I wanted to keep going! I want to be like Avery when I grow up lol

Loved everything about this book! The information, the performance, the respect, the humor, absolutely everything! I purposely listened to it sporadically so it wouldn’t finish as fast! Caitlyn is amazing - I felt like I was listening to my bestie talk to me about death lol!

Historia
Three years into her graduate studies at a demanding Boston university, the unnamed narrator of this nimbly wry, concise debut finds her onetime love for chemistry is more hypothesis than reality. She's tormented by her failed research - and reminded of her delays by her peers, her advisor, and most of all her Chinese parents, who have always expected nothing short of excellence from her throughout her life.

Is that a weird way to describe a book? Because that’s literally the only word I can think of after finishing this book. The performance, the story , the character, ugh! Everything was great. I will listen again!

Very cheesy
Revisado: 04-09-22
Literally so cheesy! But in a cute way. I personally think that narrating it in two different genders was unnecessary, although I enjoyed the male’s performance best. The female narrator was okay, I just don’t think she was suitable for this story.
In regards to the story, it’s nice. I was not expecting the explicit scenes, it felt off with the story but it was still enjoyable. Apparently she smells really good for someone who doesn’t seem to shower that often LOL
In general, it’s a cute story and the end is very cheesy, which is fitting. Not sure if this is the author’s first book, but she’s got great potential and would be interested to read more of her work in the future.

Was expecting more?
Revisado: 10-28-21
I absolutely loved the performance and how beautifully it was written. Truly love Kwan! However, I’m sad that we didn’t get to enjoy more of the romance of George and Lucy. It was all so sudden like I LOVE YOU SINCE THE FIRST TIME WE MET but I feel like it wasn’t deep enough. Lovely story, though. I wanted to punch Cecil so many times lol. I’m looking forward to more of Kevin Kwan!

Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Such a fun story! Loved all the characters and how beautifully everything was described. I totally picture Seo Kang-Joon as Sam (I know he’s Korean but still) and omg, I melt. I will definitely be looking forward to more books from Lily Chu!
