Historia
It is a perfect July morning, and Elle, a 50-year-old happily married mother of three, awakens at “The Paper Palace” - the family summer place she has visited every summer of her life. But this morning is different: Last night, Elle and her oldest friend, Jonas, crept out the back door into the darkness and had sex with each other for the first time, all while their spouses chatted away inside. Now, Elle will have to decide between the life she has made with her genuinely beloved husband and the life she always imagined she would have had with her childhood love.

Lovely read
Revisado: 01-13-23
I really enjoyed this book. It was such an easy listen, I did not want it to end! The descriptions and interactions on every page made you feel as though you were there. I disagree with some of the other reviews stating that the book ended abruptly or without clear ending. I felt satisfied with the ending. There’s no perfect ending but I felt El made her choice. Would highly recommend.

Historia
Sloane and Maggie have never met. Sloane is a straight-A student with a big and loving family. Maggie lives a glamorously independent life as an up-and-coming actress in New York. The two girls couldn't be more different - except for one thing. They share a secret that they can't tell a soul. At night, they dream that they're each other. The deeper they're pulled into the promise of their own lives, the more their worlds begin to blur dangerously together. Before long, Sloane and Maggie can no longer tell which life is real and which is just a dream.

Interesting but I think the book is for teens...
Revisado: 04-25-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend the book as it was an interesting read but it felt a little childish to me. The book is about two 16 year old girls so there is some high school drama in the book that began to annoy me. The storyline was interesting overall if you can get past the juvenileness.
Any additional comments?
Past comments mentioned that the book was very confusing. I do not agree. I think the point was that the characters were confused as well, which was conveyed in the story line to the listeners.

A lovely story - didn't want it to end!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This was a very good listen. It is not really fast paced or thrilling but it kept my interest the whole time. I felt as though I was in the book so it was disappointing when it ended. I loved that the book allows you to see perspectives from all characters sides and the twist was not expected but was a pleasant surprise.
What did you like best about this story?
I really loved the twist towards the end. It was not what I was expecting but it made the story more interesting.
Have you listened to any of Caroline Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
N/A
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES! I just wanted it to keep going and going...

A sad but sympathetic story
Revisado: 02-08-12
What made the experience of listening to Those Who Save Us the most enjoyable?
It was an easy listen. It is a great story with much education about the holocaust. The story really puts you back in that time frame and you are able to feel and sympathize with what how Germans felt during the war....do you just put your head down and ignore what is going on or do you risk your own life and help your Jewish neighbors?
What was one of the most memorable moments of Those Who Save Us?
When Anna came home to find the
What does Suzanne Toren bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
There is a lot of German spoken in the book. It was nice to have the correct pronunciation and enunciation so that it flowed well with the story.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
More than anything I felt frustration and sadness for the characters. Frustration for Anna during the war and her time with
Any additional comments?
I wish the story would have ended with a little more explaination. Did Trudy find out everything from Anna?
