Historia
Julian Jessop, an eccentric, lonely artist and septuagenarian believes that most people aren’t really honest with each other. But what if they were? And so he writes—in a plain, green journal—the truth about his own life and leaves it in his local café. It’s run by the incredibly tidy and efficient Monica, who furtively adds her own entry and leaves the book in the wine bar across the street. Before long, the others who find the green notebook add the truths about their own deepest selves - and soon find each other In Real Life at Monica’s Café.

Well done
Revisado: 04-22-25
I loved the story from start to finish. It had me hooked. It had several tiny twists and turns. My only critique is the main character, Monica is supposed to be 30 and the narrator (no offense) sounded much older. It was hard for me to picture her as she was described in the book. Overall, the narrator was good. It was just that her voice didn’t sounded like the character I had pictured for the description that was written of her. Overall worth the read or listen.

But none of the staff at the prison knows Brooke has already broken the rules. Nobody knows about her intimate connection to Shane Nelson, one of the penitentiary’s most notorious and dangerous inmates.

Great twists but….
Revisado: 04-10-25
The plot has such potential with the exception of the prison storylines. I don’t want to give anything away so if you haven’t listened, you may not want to read anymore.
I felt that the author should have explored more about the prison system and the effects of being in a prison and when you come out -even if just for several months. It wasn’t realistic at all. Also, I felt that the character had no backbone. There was so much potential if she would’ve explored more of the prison scenes going in and coming out. And developing the main character a little bit deeper. I listened till the end I enjoyed the end with all the twist and turns, but I’m not sure if I would recommend this to my friends.

Slow to start
Revisado: 12-08-22
The end moved along faster than the beginning and the middle. It started off like a book I had already listen to, but luckily it took a different turn towards the end.
I’ve heard hundreds of stories on Audible and this one is in the middle for me.

Historia
Thirty years ago, Wilde was found as a boy living feral in the woods, with no memory of his past. Now an adult, he still doesn't know where he comes from, and another child has gone missing. No one seems to take Naomi Pine's disappearance seriously, not even her father - with one exception. Hester Crimstein, a television criminal attorney, knows through her grandson that Naomi was relentlessly bullied at school. Hester asks Wilde - with whom she shares a tragic connection - to use his unique skills to help find Naomi.

Great Ending
Revisado: 11-20-22
I liked the story and the ending has a few twists, which I enjoy.
My only issue is the male reader does not do a good job of character differences in their voice. And I absolutely hated his voice for Hester.
I will say my ears tend to like several voices in a story or more female reader. I have found some men readers that can do it and do it well. This reader, while he is a great reader, his female voices just didn’t do it for me. But I still finished and enjoyed it none the less.

Needs A Part Two
Revisado: 09-09-22
The end left me with several questions and while I can create my own answers, a 2nd book or part 2 would definitely add.
The characters are well created and the story has so much potential to continue.

Historia
There are two sides to every story: yours and mine, ours and theirs, his and hers. Which means someone is always lying. When a woman is murdered in Blackdown, a quintessentially British village, newsreader Anna Andrews is reluctant to cover the case. Detective Jack Harper is suspicious of her involvement, until he becomes a suspect in his own murder investigation. Someone isn’t telling the truth, and some secrets are worth killing to keep.

Historia
Imagine never being able to close your eyes and remember the feel of your mother’s arms wrapped around you. Now imagine closing your eyes and remembering your mother’s tears splashing down on your face as she is on top of you, crying as she is trying to choke you to death. My mother left me these memories and many more during my traumatic childhood. After many years of struggling with trying to understand "Why me?" I took back control of my life and started saying, "It was me, now what am I going to do?" The answer is my book, "Why Me?"

Review
Revisado: 09-01-21
It’s always hard to rate/review a autobiography. The story is not full of characters or plots that can be made to suit the author or the audience. I applaud Sarah for writing her story and whether or not her mother ever accepts responsibility does not make it not true.
Sadly, there are many Sarah’s in the world and I hope this helps someone be as determined as her to break the cycle.
My only negative is that the reader, at times, sounded like an automated voice, versus a real human reader. It was distracting to me. Although, it didn’t deter me from finishing the story.

Historia
Therese Wolley is a mother who has made a promise. She works as a secretary, shops for groceries on Saturdays, and takes care of her two girls. She doesn’t dwell on the fact that her girls are fatherless, mostly because her own father abandoned her before she was born and she has done just fine without him. Even though her older daughter regularly wakes with nightmares and her younger one whispers letters under her breath, she doesn't shift from her resolve that everything will be fine.

Historia
The correspondence between Carrie Allsop and David Mayer reveals, piece by piece, the painful details of a devastating affair between their spouses. With each commiserating scratch of the pen, they confess their fears and bare their souls. They share the bewilderment over how things went so wrong and come to wonder where to go from here. Told entirely through the letters of two comforting strangers and those of two illicit lovers, Evidence of the Affair explores the complex nature of the heart. And ultimately, for one woman, how liberating it can be when it’s broken.
