Nathaniel Parker is one of my favorite narrators. He has the ability to transform a plain story into an interesting one with his lively narration and is a joy to listen to.

Frivolous story, mildly entertaining
Revisado: 02-12-25
The narrator was competent but adding a male voice would increase the listening experience. Also the interaction between the butler and his employer is totally unbelievable.

Excellent narration
Revisado: 02-06-25
I listened to The Red Circle and liked it so much I immediately bought The Irregulars but was so disappointed that I almost returned it after one hour. The first half of the story was slow and not very interesting. I listened on only because of the excellent narrator. Luckily the pace picked up after 3 or 4 hours. I certainly hope that Book 3 will be better.

Good reinvention of Sherlock

Interesting take on how Sherlock Holmes came to be. The narration was good and the prediction of the future retrograde of our once flourishing cities is not so far fetched as it may seem. I thoroughly enjoyed it and may listen to it again later

Even Joanna Lumley couldn’t save the story

It was such a disappointment. The beginning was promising but quickly spiraled down into a ridiculous fantasy. It should have been categorized under sci-fi and I would have stayed away.

Disappointing book
Revisado: 01-27-25
A total waste of one credit. Ridiculous storyline and the simulation of “telephone conversations” was most annoying and distracting. There was 0 chemistry between Inspector Graham and his partner Laura. Extremely unprofessional how she interferes with his work. The book really fell short of my expectations and left me very disappointed.

The story is intricate and riveting and I finished it in 2 days. I have one problem with the narrator - his narration is excellent most of the time but he cannot do Eastern European accents. I hope he’ll get better in the remaining books.

This is a much better instalment than the second in the series. The narrator did not attempt any outlandish accents and the story is quite interesting apart from the racial slurs.
