Everything about this dramatization is excellent. Really great actors and production, and the story script is true to the novel.

Absolutely brilliant. This is probably the only performance you’ll ever encounter that is worthy of Joyce’s masterpiece. The distinct diversity of voices that Norton manages to create is extraordinary. As for the text, this was my second time through with a 25 year gap between readings and I feared I would find it too clever by half. Instead, I was really touched by the deep humanity and compassion that are everywhere in the text. There’s a great deal of humor and poetry too that keep the narrative musical and lively. This is definitely well worth a listen/read.

Amazed: Banking History is Fascinating and Amusing

It's a rare breed of historian who can take a subject as apparently dull as "the demise of bankers" and make it fascinating and entertaining.

Think you'll be glad when a book of this nature is over? Think again! Pressing "Play" and already counting your lucky stars that Michael Kramer's brilliant, wry voice gets this history over with in a paltry 4 hrs and 37 mins? You are, I suspect, in for a very welcome rude awakening... you are about to discover that you are an unapologetically passionate student of the history of bankers (and banking), and to those who doubt the sincerity of your conversion, you will wish for the voice of Kramer as you utter your full defense: "You must read Chernow's The Death of the Banker... then we can talk."

This is a hugely entertaining book. Inventive, imaginative and satisfyingly funny, I feel sure many people are going to enjoy it as much as me. Highly recommended.

That said, I think Julian Rhine-Tutt’s performance deserves even higher praise. I have read better books on Audible but I have never heard a better reading. It is genuinely superb. Definitely worth a listen.

Well read, but cuts some passages that are valuable from the written text. I'd recommend having both.

The narration was brilliant. I think I would have found this book slightly boring if it hadn't been for Anthony Heald's great performance. He really brought affection and understanding to the characters.

This is a really excellent reading. I was a little put off by the muted tone when I first started listening, but later realized that JC Reilly was setting the whole thing up perfectly. I've never seen the famous film to compare it to, but this reading is great, high-quality entertainment.

For the first 25% I was luke warm on the book. Then I sort of got into the groove of it and really loved it right to the end.
