Historia
Over the course of 10 Mitford novels, fans have kept a special place in their hearts for Dooley Kavanagh, first featured in At Home in Mitford as a barefoot, freckle-faced boy in filthy overalls. Now, Father Tim Kavanagh's adopted son has graduated from vet school and opened his own animal clinic. Since money will be tight for a while, maybe he and Lace Harper, his once and future soul mate, should keep their wedding simple.

This is my all-time favorite book
Revisado: 02-26-24
This book summarizes the entire Mitford series in a very beautiful way. I’m on the verge of tears most of the time through it especially chapters 11 and 12. So beautifully written and it brings forth so many emotions. I just love it.

Wonderful story

Unlike the first book in this series, there wasn’t as much cussing which made the story much more enjoyable. I loved this book and read it quickly.

Historia
Daisy McCrae's life is in tatters. She's lost her job, broken up with her boyfriend, and has been reduced to living in the attic above her family's store, the Union Street Bakery, while learning the business. Making things worse is the constant feeling of not being a "real" McCrae, since she was adopted as a child and has a less-than-perfect relationship with her two sisters. Then a long-standing elderly customer passes away, and for some reason she bequeaths to Daisy a journal dating back to the 1850s...

Large amount of foul language.
Revisado: 09-11-22
This was a very interesting book except for the large amount of foul language which was totally unnecessary. It indicated ignorance on the author’s part.

Very predictable. A bit unbelievable but a good story. It needed an explanation of what happened near the end of the story to her father.

The best book I have read in a long time
Revisado: 05-06-22
I loved that this book was different from other Amish books. I liked the way it went from the 1800’s to now. Both stories were fascinating. It held my attention so well. I can’t wait to read the next 2 in the series.

Narrator is terrible
Revisado: 08-02-21
I am struggling to get through this book. The narrator’s phony accents and mispronounced words are very annoying. And the story just drags on and on. I give up. My time is worth more than this.

Narrator's attempts at accents are poor
Revisado: 11-02-20
I love all books from Lauraine Snelling that are part of the Red River of the North Series. This was no exception. However, the narrator's imitation of accents was very poor and even annoying. Once I got used to it, I tried to overlook that and enjoyed the story. I wish I could find these books narrated by Callie Beaulieu. She does a beautiful job in all the other books.

Giddy narrator and poorly written stories
Revisado: 11-02-20
This book was a complete disappointment. There was very little story devoted to actual midwifery. It was all about couples falling in love. The narrator has a giddy little laugh that appears even when the story is supposed to be serious. I couldn't finish the book. Don't waste your credit on this one!

This is the best book I have listened to in a long time. From the beginning it gripped my attention and kept it the whole way through. Although somewhat predictable it was extremely well written and I absolutely loved it
