Historia
Anybody could buy a Rolex or a Cadillac. The real bling of the day was privately chartered airplanes. Kimber C. Turner pulls back the curtain on a 30-year career in aviation with his unique style of humor and storytelling. Captain Turner is a retired airline pilot with over 18,000 hours of flight time and a former radio talk-show host. Now he is out of the sky and off of the air. In his retirement, Kimber C. Turner does some voiceover work and an occasional guest spot on the radio. He also writes a book now and then.

I should taken a cue from the title, since the book is all about layovers instead of flying.

Historia
In 1861, young Mark Twain found himself adrift as a tenderfoot in the Wild West. Roughing It is a hilarious record of his travels over a six-year period that comes to life with his inimitable mixture of reporting, social satire, and rollicking tall tales. Twain reflects on his scuffling years mining silver in Nevada, working at a Virginia City newspaper, being downandout in San Francisco, reporting for a newspaper from Hawaii, and more.

Narrator Change Does Not Work
Revisado: 12-20-19
I took delight in the overall comfortable felling these stories gave me as a refuge from the tribulations of the real world.
This was largely due to the original narrator, Ray Worley's, rendition of Chinle Miller's style. He brought heart and soul to the the delightful characters. Now, I hate to criticize any artist, but the new narrator just doesn't have it, and is often hard to listen to with a sometimes choppy, disjointed pace that seems like he's reading it one word at a time.
I made it through the entire book hoping I would acclimate, but it didn't happen, and I'm sad to say this will be the last book in the series that I will buy with this narrator.

Enjoying the series.
Revisado: 10-26-18
I have found myself gradually warming to the Jake Lassiter series. it's just entertainment without overly taxing mind with complexity or numerous characters to keep track of. I didnt think I would ever be drawn into courtroom and legal procedure, but the author weaves those details into the story to make the outcome intriguing to the very end.
I can't tolerate an unprofessional narration, and Luke Daniels does an excellent job bringing the story to life. Five stars on this account.

"I was sitting at the end of the bar sipping single-malt Scotch when I spotted the tall blond woman with the large green eyes and the small gray gun."
The next thing Jake Lassiter knows, the woman pumps three bullets into the man on the next barstool. Lassiter, the linebacker-turned-lawyer, has a new client. She's a stunning South Beach model; the dead man is her wealthy father; and the murder case is a slam dunk for the prosecution. Or is it?
"Lassiter is smart, tough, funny, and very human...one of the most entertaining series characters in contemporary crime fiction." - Booklist

i enjoyed this book, as well as others in the series. It kept me interested to the end trying to puzzle out the "who done it" mystery, as well as following the legal procedures and courtroom drama. Luke Daniels does a thoroughly professional job of breathing life into the story line as it unfolds.

Another Elmore Leonarard Keeper
Revisado: 08-28-18
Mainly, I'd like to comment on the perfect combination of an Elmore Leonard yarn and Richard Poe's narration. Elmore always delivers, so my favorites are most often determined by how well I like the read, and Richard Poe brought this story to life. He's the kind of storyteller/narrator that you can enjoy listening to even if your attention drifts and you lose track of the storyline.

Historia
It's every parrothead's dream: to leave behind the rat race of the workaday world and start life all over again amidst the cool breezes, sun-drenched colors, and rum-laced drinks of a tropical paradise. It's the story of Norman Paperman, a New York City press agent who, facing the onset of middle age, runs away to a Caribbean island to reinvent himself as a hotel keeper. (Hilarity and disaster - of a sort peculiar to the tropics - ensue.)
