So much has changed

I read this book in 1992, and so much has changed in society the LGB+ community since then. The verbiage, use of slurs, physical descriptions and internalized homophobia of some of the characters are cringe-worthy by today’s standards. But, at the time this was written, this book was progressive. There is still much to be done for equal rights and protections of all LGBTQIA+ humans, people of color, women, et. al. And, it is important to recognize the progress we have made, so far. The fight is not over! I think Kate Delafield needs her own tv series.

Good in the end

Written well. Good narration. Main characters are very annoying for first half of the book, then they flesh out into likable adults by the end.
