The previous books have not been my favorites. I’m glad I suck with it though. This book got things headed back in the right direction. Narrator did a fantastic job as always!

Several characters and points of view. A few times I had to make notes about who characters were so that I could keep them straight. After I got the hang of it the story was really ramping up. Great character development. When not reading I find myself thinking about who I trust and who will become an antagonist. Fantastic narrating!

I started this series with my kids (1st and 4th grade) but during a road trip my 68yo father got hooked on it too. He’s never listed to an audio book but enjoyed this one along side my kids. Great book! Great narration!

I never got invested in any of the characters. It was just a story that happened. I was looking for something on the same level as Expeditionary Force. It was not. The narrator seemed like he should be narrating some film noir type of movie. Overall it was just kind of meh.

Columbus Day level of awesomeness

This is the eighth book in the series and one of the best books yet! Somewhere around book five of six I began losing the overall plot line but kept listening because it was entertaining and I enjoyed the banter. However, this book had the same clearity as Columbus Day(book one). Really entertaining and RC Bray’s performance was superb as always.

My daughters and I listened to these books during our 1.5 hours of daily commuting. My 5 year old could follow the story and make predictions. She understood the humor. My 8 yo LOVES this series. Her insight into the characters and their arcs has led to some great conversations about real life vs literature.
Highly recommend these books.

I listened to this with my third grader and Kindergartner during our commute to school. We would often arrive home and just sit in the car unwilling to stop the story. I’m no musician but I found the music theory interesting. My kids loved the music that often accompanied the narration. Excellent book!

Likes: This was a good story that moved along nicely. My daughter likes a mystery in stories and this book delivered. We learned a few things about art along the way.
Dislikes: There were odd pauses in the narration that were distracting. My daughter speculated that the narrator was turning the page and no one edited out the pause afterwards.
