Historia
It is 1779, and Claire and Jamie are at last reunited with their daughter, Brianna, her husband, Roger, and their children on Fraser's Ridge. Having the family together is a dream the Frasers had thought impossible. Yet even in the North Carolina backcountry, the effects of war are being felt. Tensions in the Colonies are great, and local feelings run hot enough to boil Hell's tea-kettle. Jamie knows loyalties among his tenants are split and it won't be long until the war is on his doorstep.

Such a great addition to the series...

I just finished listening the book and it feels like leaving family with no idea of when I'll get to see them again... Beautiful story, awesomely read by Davina Porter.
Besides the William and Amaranthus' story arc (as I had trouble liking those characters), this novel was easily in the Top 3 of the series so far.
Thank you, Ms Gabaldon. And thank you Ms Porter for the love you put into the portrayal of all those wonderful characters.

At the old family manse in Louisiana, Special Agent Pendergast is putting to rest long-ignored possessions reminiscent of his wife Helen's tragic death, only to make a stunning - and dreadful - discovery. Helen had been mauled by an unusually large and vicious lion while they were big game hunting in Africa. But now, Pendergast learns that her rifle-her only protection from the beast-had been deliberately loaded with blanks. Who could have wanted Helen dead...and why?

When Pendergast goes outdoor, sh*t hits the fan !

I was getting tired of all those stories set in filty tunnels, creepy museums et moldy basements so this story was a good change. Even though the decrepitude is never far, thanks to the rundown Penombra house and the swamps.
Very good read though ! Too bad Audible does not have the 11th book available.
