What would have made Rescued Heart better?

I would have made the character that was treated badly several times over again, demand or wait for some type of apology, instead of making excuses for them and powering on.

What was most disappointing about Georgia Beers’s story?

I can't think of another instant when I wanted the characters to not end up together, I get they are both a bit broken and wanted to become better people with each other, but one character repeatedly being rude to another or mistreating her without apology, not ok.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The performance was just fine. No complaint.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment and irritation.

Any additional comments?

This story felt more like a making due with this person because you are attracted to them or they are attractive rather than because they had a great personal connection.

What would have made The Icing on the Cupcake better?

I love the escapism of a good chick-lit, fluffy, beach read but this one was paced very oddly and showed no character development, and required too much suspensions of belief to enjoy. The main character changed but it was nearly instantaneously. Everything seemed so instantaneous in the book, and then it just ended. I really wanted to enjoy this book and this character but it was hard. So hard.

Would you ever listen to anything by Jennifer Ross again?

I doubt it.

Have you listened to any of Kate Baldwin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The audio narration was great, I had no issues with it.

What character would you cut from The Icing on the Cupcake?

The secondary love interest. It was really pointless.

Any additional comments?

The story had the bones of what could have been a fantastic, fun, fluffy read. The dumped girl that builds herself up again is one of my favorite plots, this one just left me feeling empty and slightly frustrated.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I recommended her first book so many times I have honestly lost track and frankly I will do the same with this book. She approaches mental illness and horrible life happenings with humor, wit and a dash of crazy.

What did you like best about this story?

Her honesty and humor.

What about Jenny Lawson’s performance did you like?

I liked hearing her story in her voice, it feels more authentic. I am glad she was brave enough to stand up and make sure her voice was heard.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Look out there is a whole lot of crazy going on in here!

Any additional comments?

Jenny Lawson is the beacon of light upon the shore to those afflicted with a mental illness left adrift in the foggy ocean that is life. Thank you Jenny!

What disappointed you about Misfortune Cookies?

She took the opportunity to have a great mystery series, that was otherwise well written, and instead spent the entire time making fun of people in a way that was not only offensive but hurtful. You know because THE ONLY things fat people do is think about food all day, and then gorge themselves at every given opportunity.

Has Misfortune Cookies turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. I enjoy cozy mysteries, but it has turned me off from the Author.

How could the performance have been better?

Performance was ok.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Misfortune Cookies?

I would have edited out the offensive stereo types of fat people and cleaned up the ending, it was quite convoluted.

Any additional comments?

Shame on the author. Sad because I like to support local Authors.

This has got to be one of the best books I've listened to of Nora Roberts in a long time. The story, was so natural and had a long slow burn (pun intended), it didn't feel like I'd heard the story before. The details seemed so authentic about the practices, feelings and duties of the Fire Jumpers (no idea if it was but it sure felt real). Keeps you guessing and on your toes!

Haywood Smith has such a way of infusing religion into her books without you feeling like your being preached to. It's nice listen to a good clean book.

Would you consider the audio edition of Let's Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir) to be better than the print version?

Yes, I rarely like books read by their authors but Jenny has a real knack for narration! It is her story she should be the one reading. I know read her blog and can imagine her saying it!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Let's Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir)?

Her father with the squirrel in the cracker box and Beyoncé the giant metal rooster knock knock!

Have you listened to any of Jenny Lawson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first for this Genre and Jenny Lawson.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Jenny suffers from panic attacks (which I do also) and I have never heard it put so perfectly, she really puts into words what feels indescribable, it felt like someone else finally really understood. It nearly moved me to tears.

Any additional comments?

I normally listen to "beach reads" at work. After buying this for my wife for a cross country journey and being told I must stop any other audiobooks to listen to this I did. It had me literally laughing out loud at work! I would have to stop, back up and re-listen to parts I missed because of laughing so hard! The other thing is she suffers from panic attacks (which I do also) and I have never heard it put so perfectly, she really puts into words what feels indescribable, it felt like someone else finally really understood. I hope she does a follow up and I am now dedicated to her blog! I love that she is from Texas and lived in Houston, as I do also, that aside it is truly one of the funniest things I have ever heard and I can not stop recommending it to people!

What disappointed you about The Glass Kitchen?

This story is flat and the characters are one dimensional caricature of southern women and hard unloving New Yorkers. , the addition of Magical Realism wasn't the worst example I have read, but it follows in the foot steps a little bit to much towards Sarah Addison Allen. I have been a fan of previous works, The Devil in the Junior League and The Ex-Debutante were both funny and relatable, the women although flawed were strong and the stories were built up around them. It reminds me of a poorly written harlequin novel.

What aspect of Julia Whelan’s performance would you have changed?

The men all sounded like versions of batman, they were laughable and stagnate. The women sounded very similar to each other which was disappointing.

What character would you cut from The Glass Kitchen?

Portia's sisters, they added very little to no substance to the book.

Any additional comments?

What I learned: Women are weak and easily manipulated and controlled by men. Men are greedy, uncaring cheaters. Flat characters.

Would you try another book from Wendy Wax and/or Amy Rubinate?

Wendy Wax - yes!
Amy Rubinate - Never again.

Any additional comments?

This narrator is stilted and to fast. It was impossible to listen to and a waste of a credit.
