Historia
Turned from the path of the assassin, Asher roams the world no better than a nomad, with naught to offer but his sword and grit. But woe betide the monster that believes his sword and grit will not be enough. In a twisted chance of fate, the brash actions of Doran Heavybelly—a dwarven hunter with a lot to say—forces Asher back into the world of man. And so the ranger is brought into the light, into the gaze of Illian’s greatest crime guilds and onto the lawless island of Dragorn.

Historia
Legend. Myth. Nightfall has long been rumored to be nothing more than whispers on the breeze. If only it were so. In those halls of darkness, where children are taken from the world and given to shadow and dust, Asher is destined for that same fate. He will become the myth. He will become the legend. He will become the whisper of Death itself.

Asher, Enough said.
Revisado: 02-13-23
Only because the response is required. I could live in Asher's world and love the continued connection and story that moved me past Tolkien, Paolini, and Rowling. Thank you for the adventures I cannot seem to get enough of. Thank you to Podium also! You give me opportunities for myself that I will always treasure.

TAL is a character so relatable and real; he will be missed. I waited so long for the last two books and it went too fast.

Not quite a copycat series
Revisado: 08-20-22
I read a few reviews that mentioned, “...they heard it before...”. Yes, some of the names are similar to the Eragon series, and the dragon, elf, orc, and dwarf history certainly sound like characters developed by Tolkien. But that is the magic of this series. It follows what we have heard before but with interesting fully developed different characters. It's not all lace, diamonds, gold, and crowns. The banter is real, the emotions are accurate; you want to just keep listening. Initially, I was annoyed by the narrator's attempt to add different voices for each character, because I was not convinced he could maintain them. However, he soon changed my mind as I found myself waiting for more updates on what was happening to each of them. I did hear him yawning a few times in the audio...it was a reminder that his amazing acting skills were from someone entirely real and human himself.
I am grateful for this level of detail by the author. It reminds me of Paolini’s work which in my opinion is Tolkien-level.
Now I just need more credits!

Michelle gives me hope and reminds me of the 8 years I do miss
Revisado: 06-25-19
Many years ago I could hardly wait to watch a glimpse of Barak and Michelle on any show or news story possible. I had become one of the millions excited about the promise of a president who seemed to truly represent me and who gave me a chance to realize a dream of an African American President. Also, to have a first lady that was truly real and sincere.
It was, of course, all truly just one big dream for me because I never really knew them.
This carefully and candidly written novel gave me a beautiful 27 chapter insight on Michelle's life. But, the fact that Michelle narrated this story cover-to-cover, made me feel as if I was a part of her beautiful journey through life. It was also a gift to hear a true depiction of Barak's journey from the heart and mind of someone who really knew him. Ultimately, as a wife, mother, and working woman whose skin was not white, I could relate to, understand, and respect every word Michelle wrote and shared.
I am so thankful and honored to read this book.
