Historia
The great adventure story tells of Odysseus, a veteran of the Trojan War, who - through a landscape peopled with monsters, sea nymphs, evil enchantresses, and vengeful gods - makes his tortuous way home to his faithful wife, Penelope. Shipwrecked numerous times, faced with apparently insurmountable obstacles, offered the temptations of ease, comfort, and even immortality, Odysseus remains steadfast and determined. Themes of courage and perseverance, fidelity and fortitude.

A Mortimer/McKern Pleasure
Revisado: 10-13-10
Leo McKern is Horace Rumple and this tale of 1970s counter-culture jurisprudence is a gem. As always, John Mortimer's stories may be about trials and the law but they are also about people and society. In this one, we get a look at WWII nostalgia and narcs with the same even handedness that Mortimer brings to all his stories. So join the "old fella" and enjoy the journey.

Historia
Here are tales of mystery, the supernatural, and the paranormal, all moulded by Robin Bailey's very smooth and rolling tones. These intriguing stories include "The Man of the Night" by Edgar Wallace, "No. 1 Branch Line: The Signalman" by Charles Dickens, "A Terribly Strange Bed" by Wilkie Collins, "Sredni Vashtar" by Saki, "The Werewolf" by Frederick Marryat, "The Mezzotint" by M.R. James, and "The Black Cat" by Edgar Allan Poe.

Pleasantly Disturbing
Revisado: 10-13-10
I purchased this audiobook years ago in cassette form and have waited for it to be reissued. Robin Bailey performs (rather than merely reads) each of these tales and brings them to life. From the creepy gothic story of "A Terribly Strange Bed" by Wilkie Collins to the truly disturbing tale of the peculiar painting in "The Mezzotint" by M.R. James these stories will keep you company and likely keep you awake at night. A gem not to be missed.
