Historia
Edmund McGowan is a gifted naturalist whose life’s work is threatened by war. Mary Mott is a widowed innkeeper forced to rely on her own resources for survival. Mary’s 16-year-old son, Terrell, is a young man about to experience his first taste of love. Sprinkling in real-life figures such as James Bowie and Davy Crockett - Harrigan gives a human face to a true American legend. Told from the perspective of the Mexican attackers as well as the American defenders, this New York Times best seller recreates a time and a place where honor and gallant death shaped generations of people.

Historia
It's easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable. Yet Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won't go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that's 60 years old.

Refreshing. I enjoyed this book very much about a priest serving a small village church.

Historia
They were called Easy Company, but their mission was never easy. Immortalized as the Band of Brothers, they suffered huge casualties while liberating Europe in an unparalleled record of bravery under fire. Dick Winters led them through the Battle of the Bulge, the attack on Foy, where Easy Company reached its breaking point, and finally into Germany, by which time each member had been wounded. Outside Munich, they liberated an S.S. death camp and captured Berchtesgaden, Hitler's alpine retreat.

Good story well told.

This story about Company E is inspiring. I have a greater appreciation of what soldiers went through. My uncle was in the Battle of the Bulge and he didn't talk much about except for his contempt for those who bragged about how they won the war.

Excellent story well told with compassion for those on both sides on WWII. Traces the changes of opinions because of the war.
