Historia
When Newton discovered the law of gravity, he unified the rules governing the heavens and the Earth. Since then, physicists have been placing new forces into ever-grander theories. But perhaps the ultimate challenge is achieving a monumental synthesis of the two remaining theories—relativity and the quantum theory. This would be the crowning achievement of science, a profound merging of all the forces of nature into one beautiful, magnificent equation to unlock the deepest mysteries in science: What happened before the Big Bang?

I'm just a regular guy who listens to a lot of books on a wide range of topics. I can easily say Kaku is my favorite author and I would listen to him talk about anything he pleases. No college degree needed, all you need is a curious mind and he takes care of the rest.

Historia
Setting aside the pervasive material bias of science and lifting the obscuring fog of religious sectarianism reveals a surprisingly clear unity of science and religion. The explanations of transcendent phenomena given by saints, sages, and near-death experiencers are fully congruent with scientific discoveries in the fields of relativity, quantum physics, medicine, M-theory, neuroscience, and quantum biology. The Physics of God describes the intersections of science and religion.

I have spent over a decade of reading and studying Christian theology and history, Gnosticism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Western Philosophy, Quantum physics, world history, anthropology and more. This book sums up the conclusion of all that reading in one clear and concise book.

Historia
This fascinating 24-lecture course is a richly detailed guide to the theology, sacred writings, rituals, and outstanding human figures of the Gnostic movements. What we call "Gnosticism" comprised a number of related religious ideologies and movements, all of which sought " gnosis," or immediate, direct, and intimate knowledge of God. The Gnostics had many scriptures, but unlike the holy texts of other religions, Gnostic scriptures were often modified over time.

Historia
Christianity didn't have to become the dominant religion in the West. It easily could have remained a sect of Judaism fated to have the historical importance of the Sadducees or the Essenes. In The Triumph of Christianity, Bart Ehrman, a master explainer of Christian history, texts, and traditions, shows how a religion whose first believers were 20 or so illiterate day laborers in a remote part of the empire became the official religion of Rome, converting some 30 million people in just four centuries.

I have listened to most of his books and Great Courses, I watch his you tube videos and follow his Twitter feed. This book is just as well done as all his others but I gave 4 stars because the subject matter just didn't interest me as much as his other books. Gotta save 5 stars for my favorites.

The number-one best-selling author of The Future of the Mind traverses the frontiers of astrophysics, artificial intelligence, and technology to offer a stunning vision of man's future in space, from settling Mars to traveling to distant galaxies. Formerly the domain of fiction, moving human civilization to the stars is increasingly becoming a scientific possibility - and a necessity. Whether in the near future due to climate change and the depletion of finite resources or in the distant future due to catastrophic cosmological events, humans will one day need to leave Earth.

Historia
Is there a science to love? In this groundbreaking audiobook, psychiatrist and neuroscientist Amir Levine and psychologist Rachel S. F. Heller reveal how an understanding of attachment theory - the most advanced relationship science in existence today - can help us find and sustain love. Attachment theory forms the basis for many best-selling books on the parent/child relationship, but there has yet to be an accessible guide to what this fascinating science has to tell us about adult romantic relationships - until now.

Hey Amir and Rachael, I get the feeling you don't think much of Avoidant attachment styles. You seem to have passed judgement on which style is the best approach to life without considering the rational legitimacy all approaches to life. You seem to try to hide this belief from the reader at times but it shoes through none the less.

Historia
From the author of the groundbreaking New York Times bestseller The Female Brain, here is the eagerly awaited follow-up book that demystifies the puzzling male brain.
Dr. Louann Brizendine, the founder of the first clinic in the country to study gender differences in brain, behavior, and hormones, turns her attention to the male brain, showing how, through every phase of life, the "male reality" is fundamentally different from the female one. Exploring the latest breakthroughs in male psychology and neurology with her trademark accessibility and candor, she reveals that the male brain:
*is a lean, mean, problem-solving machine. Faced with a personal problem, a man will use his analytical brain structures, not his emotional ones, to find a solution.
*thrives under competition, instinctively plays rough and is obsessed with rank and hierarchy.
*has an area for sexual pursuit that is 2.5 times larger than the female brain, consuming him with sexual fantasies about female body parts.
*experiences such a massive increase in testosterone at puberty that he perceive others' faces to be more aggressive.
The Male Brain finally overturns the stereotypes. Impeccably researched and at the cutting edge of scientific knowledge, this is a book that every man, and especially every woman bedeviled by a man, will need to own.
Praise for The Female Brain:
"Louann Brizendine has done a great favor for every man who wants to understand the puzzling women in his life. A breezy and enlightening guide to women and a must-read for men."
—Daniel Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence

Typical black or white stereotypes
Revisado: 10-04-17
No doubt there was some interesting information but you have to sift through age old stereotypes being reinforced. There is little reference to the range of masculinity and femininity found in men and women. Apparently we all fit in two neatly package boxes again. Also she definitely has a feminist bias. At multiple points she refers to post andropausal men as the "mature" version of a man. Indeed men change as we get older but apparently high sex drive, drive for power and status, and a more aggressive approach to life are seen as immaturity to the author and you don't reach maturity until you are more like the man your wife wishes you were. However If you are looking understand the underlying hormones behind a TYPICAL man's brain than this is a good book.

Must read for every couple!
Revisado: 09-26-17
This book was a real eye opener for my wife and I, putting into practice what we learned changed our marriage. I was told by one counselor to give up erotic desire and only pursue connection and intimacy and from that pursuit sexual desire will return. By another we were told we were basically beyond repair and required $14 k out patient relationship rehab. In just 12 chapters the author spelled out our struggles to a T and gave us a new way of thinking and new hope. I have read other reviews that complain about the lack of solutions and answers. To them I say the author puts you on the right track and gets you talking with your spouse about the real problem but true solutions are not universal and are specific to your own relationship. There isn't a one size fits all solution. You must engage in the pursuit of solving things with your spouse and that's kind of the point. I believe the authors goal is to change the way you think about marriage not to give you the simple solution. I would recommend this book to any couple and should be a must read in premarital counseling.

Historia
No subject is bigger than reality itself, and nothing is more challenging to understand, since what counts as reality is undergoing continual revision and has been for centuries. The quest to pin down what's real and what's illusory is both philosophical and scientific, a metaphysical search for ultimate reality that goes back to the ancient Greeks. For the last 400 years, this search has been increasingly guided by scientists, who create theories and test them in order to define and redefine reality.

Fascinating, thought provoking, slightly preachy.
Revisado: 06-28-17
Just as good as his previous work in Sapien and a must read for any thinker. Harari has a slight agenda though and unfortunately it shows through at times. There are moments we he goes from reporting on how people DO think to trying to influence how we SHOULD think in a way that even he probably isn't aware of. He can't seen to resist using his much deserved audience as a soap box if even just a little bit.
