I loved the use of then and now. It worked so cohesively and the jumps always made sense and left you wanting another chapter. Phenomenal book!

Kristin Hannah, why do you want to hurt me?
Revisado: 03-10-24
This was such a good book my husband was so done with me. I was gasping. I was raging. I was weeping. I was stomping myself all over the house giving him the low down. I just want this poor girl to have some PEACE! But isn’t that the pint of this book? I DEVOURED this book. Cannot recommend it enough.

Heartbreaking and real
Revisado: 02-06-24
It blows my mind to think about what the world doesn’t know. What people think happens, and what really happened. What a heartbreaking tale, I wish it wasn’t someone’s reality.

Historia
For Balthazar and his family of thieves, stealing a statue during the annual celebration of the god Karanis was just a good bit of fun…or a way to stick it to the governor who murdered his parents. And yeah, the small fortune in reward doesn’t hurt—even if his boss also hired the mysterious Queen of Days to join the crew as “the weapon of last resort...”

A rag tag group with a leader of sinbad-like charm this book was just wonderful! I wasn’t sure what to expect and I loved every second of it. The narrator was endearing and did such a great job differentiating between characters. It’s a shame it just came out cus I’m ready for round 2!

Historia
It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend. One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered. But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Historia
Annabel, Esther, Tanya, and Chloe are best friends—or were, as children. Despite drifting apart in adulthood, shared secrets have kept them bonded for better or worse, even as their childhood dreams haven’t quite turned out as they’d hoped. Then one day they receive a wholly unexpected—but not entirely unwelcome—invitation from another old friend. Poppy Greer has invited them all to her extravagant bachelorette party: a first-class plane ticket to three days of white sand, cocktails, and relaxation on a luxe private island in the Bahamas.

If I could in-listen, I would
Revisado: 07-27-23
I had to read this for a book club, and really thought I judged the synopsis too hard because I had avoided it for a long time…
But that was just awful. Not a single okay character, everything was guessable, and just.. gosh, everything about it made me want to throw the book. I’ve never felt so angry hearing words I’ve paid to listen to.

Historia
It's autumn in Shady Hollow, and residents are looking forward to harvest feasts. But then a rabbit discovers a grisly crop: the bones of a moose. Soon, the owner of Joe's Mug is dragged out of the coffeeshop and questioned by the police about the night his wife walked out of his life—and Shady Hollow—forever. It seems like an open-and-shut case, but dogged reporter Vera Vixen doesn't believe gentle Joe is a killer. She'll do anything to prove his innocence ... even if it means digging into secrets her neighbors would rather leave buried.

Great performance, good read, a little predictable though
Revisado: 07-16-23
Story was a little more predictable than the prior but still an enjoyable read! I felt by the first couple chapters I could tell what was going to happen pretty easily and I’m no super sleuth, though I did have a good time listening. 3.5

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Absolutely phenomenal
Revisado: 06-12-23
The narrator was so soothing to listen to, I didn’t even speed up the story because I enjoyed his cadence. The story was truly moving and enjoyable. I was enraptured despite such a long book, totally invested from start to finish. What a gripping, intelligent and well written tale!
