Historia
Letting Go describes a simple and effective means by which to let go of the obstacles to enlightenment and become free of negativity. During the many decades of the author's clinical psychiatric practice, the primary aim was to seek the most effective ways to relieve human suffering in all of its many forms. The inner mechanism of surrender was found to be of great practical benefit and is described in this book.

Chapter 3 is the heart of the book

Not a bad book. The technique is said in chapter 3 and then only the effects are referenced after that. Also, this author loves to list things.

A must-read book
Revisado: 10-15-22
I think this book applies to everyone, even those who have a great relationship. A bit church-y in the case studies, but the core message is agnostic and powerful.

Had to mindfully listen
Revisado: 11-11-21
This was a bit tough for me to listen to as it is super calming and I would end up daydreaming while listening. Really forced to me mindfully and deliberately listen.
Every chapter has a meditation at the end. Good for practicing.

There are better books in this genre
Revisado: 11-05-21
To be clear, I listened through the entirety of this book. The main issues that I have with it is that it gives incredibly shallow advice and anecdotal evidence with next to no citations or hypothetical situations.
The main topic, forming lifelong habits, is presented as "you should do this" without diving into why it matters. Books like "Atomic Habits" or the "Power of Habit" have actual case studies. "Peak" and "Drive" are fantastic books on what meaningful practice and motivation can do for individuals; again, case studies, actual research papers, and details that give the examples context. "Indestractable" was superior when coming up with a plan to improve focus.
Its examples were lackluster and lacked diversity. Topics like mindfulness were hardly mentioned, and self compassion was not mentioned at all.
To conclude, I would not recommend paying for this and frankly, even if it is free, your time would be better spent elsewhere.

Historia
Most people believe that the best way to motivate is with rewards like money - the carrot-and-stick approach. That's a mistake, says Daniel H. Pink (author of To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Motivating Others). In this provocative and persuasive new book, he asserts that the secret to high performance and satisfaction - at work, at school, and at home - is the deeply human need to direct our own lives, to learn and create new things, and to do better by ourselves and our world.

Since the publication of Running on Empty: Overcome Your Childhood Emotional Neglect, many thousands of people have learned that invisible Childhood Emotional Neglect, or CEN, has been weighing on them their entire lives, and are now in the process of recovery. Running on Empty No More: Transform Your Relationships will offer even more solutions for the effects of CEN on people's lives: how to talk about CEN, and heal it, in relationships with partners, parents, and children.

Fantastic book
Revisado: 06-27-21
It is really helpful to finally put a name to what I feel was missing. The author uses 2 families to describe some of the most common scenarios where CEN affects relationships.
Great book if you and/or your spouse have CEN, even better if you have children of your own.
I felt that there was more attention given to talking with your parents about CEN than there was about talking with your spouse, but it could just be in how I listened to it.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

An "okay" intro to understanding trauma
Revisado: 06-10-21
I think that the author is highly qualified. Due to how nuanced any individual's trauma can be, she sticks to a basic understanding of trauma, the response to stimuli, and options available for someone who has undergone traumatic events.
This book is primarily targeted to those who are survivors rather than the allies of those survivors. The "what you can do for someone with trauma" section is not very deep and I would recommend other readings.
And lastly, the cussing. Not against it, and I'm sure others will find this language helpful in expressing how they are feeling. But in its audio medium, it feels forced and ill-timed in many instances.
Overall, an okay book that is a good introduction to trauma, but if you've already got the basics, nothing new for you here.

Historia
Every life reaches that crucial intersection, the place where you must choose your fate, or have it chosen for you. For best-selling author Rich Cohen (The Fish That Ate the Whale, The Last Pirate of New York), it came in a writing workshop senior year in college, when, at 17, he had to knuckle under to a ruthless professor or make a righteous, self-defeating stand.
