This is an EXCELLENT option to an Executive MBA!
Revisado: 05-15-23
WHO do I want to become and what kind of results would I produce in the process? This is the question I ask myself before adapting to a new set of habits and systems that will get me there… I not only "want to become", but I also want to FIND an extraordinary social entrepreneur/CEO who can successfully drive positive change within a global company and its target communities by designing effective systems, motivating teams composed of carefully selected and talented people, and raising/making large sums of money. Additionally, I am an educator; therefore, I also want to become an excellent professor within a college or university. So, who is doing exactly that? The answer to me was (drums) Mr. David Siegel, the extraordinary and highly talented CEO of Meetup, one of my favorite companies.
I love learning from the best because that is who I want to become… the BEST version of MYSELF.
While reading David Siegel’s book “Decide and Conquer”, the title of the book was the first (and most important) lesson for me: MAKE GOOD DECISIONS FAST. Easier said than done… I have failed at being “speedy” many times, as he often mentions he is. Since I was little, I have been very contemplative and observant of behaviors of humans and specially insects… yes, my first professors of organizational behavior were ants. I am usually slow when the stakes are not high, but extremely fast during emergencies, and known for not giving up, which are things that brought me to an emergency room to work as a medical technician when I was in college and getting involved in national and international disaster relief efforts. I am not sure what happens within me to change so abruptly depending on circumstances. So, I guess I must think of it as “an emergency” if I want to become that exceptional Social Entrepreneur / CEO / Director / Professor / etc.
“Decide and Conquer” is a way to save money and time… it is indeed an Executive MBA in a bundle. If you truly understand his lessons, you will move forward as an executive or as pretty much anything you want to become. The lessons are INVALUABLE, so please read it multiple times and take notes. It comes with PDFs (use them). You will learn about:
1. The power of kindness
2. The power of numbers and how you can hit goal if you use this concept correctly
3. The importance of the decision-making process and being speedy
4. Failing forward and enjoying the process of learning from those lessons
5. Caring for your company before putting yourself first (corporate social responsibility starts within YOURSELF as an executive/manager/employee)
6. Why less is more if you keep the best team members
7. How to lead with a heavy heart
8. Why your family and self-care time is non-negotiable
9. Why creating good habits within the company is what foments a healthy company culture
10. Why empowering employees does not always work, and why micromanaging does at times
11. How to transition from founder-managed company to new (pragmatic) CEO in charge
12. How to transition from being a multi-million-dollar “fake” company to a sustainable “real” company
13. How to build an exceptional team
14. How to maintain transparent operations and real accountability
15. How to dramatically improve your reputation before the entire world after a scandal
16. How to pivot successfully in times of crisis, and how to handle a crisis in general
17. How to sell your company to the right people
18. The power of human relationships
19. The power of making fun of yourself
I have officially found an EXCELLENT role model and it is refreshing to learn so much by reading a single book written by him. Not allowing our personal ambitions get in the way of our company’s progress is very important when making decisions. It's about the mission, not about what's best for us as leaders. Be ethical and do what is morally permissible. Something else I loved about the book is that he mentions a series of other successful CEOs, and of course, I…Ahem, ahem... I ordered books written by those people too. Here’s who’s next on my list of books and articles: Kevin Ryan, Joseph Steinberg, and Mark Warner. Yes, learning is my favorite thing to do.
Enjoy!

This is a real “guide by example” for entrepreneurs
Revisado: 12-01-20
I am noticing more and more the importance of mathematics in life... nearly all top entrepreneurs I know are excellent at math and the author of this book, Tony Hsieh, was no exception... although the most important aspect of running Zappos is the actual culture of the company and serving employees and customers well, nothing happened miraculously... it took a lifetime of practice and understanding/ predicting human behavior using mathematical thinking (not typical sales scripts). I dare say this because the company collected data daily to evaluate everyone involved. Tony also loved the subject and was an avid poker player.
I have read this book multiple times and took notes on it. It has influenced my thinking like very few books have. I can relate to his story in so many levels, and for that, I am deeply grateful.🙏🏼.
Rest In Peace Tony. You will live in our hearts forever.

Historia
Minimalism is the thing that gets us past the things that clutter our lives so we can make room for life's most important things - which actually aren't things at all. At age 30, best friends Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus walked away from their six-figure corporate careers, jettisoned most of their material possessions, and started focusing on what's truly important.

Excellent summary on leadership!
Revisado: 09-22-19
This was an excellent summary on leadership; however, I would recommend to include a segment explaining why is it that we are facing a leadership deficit worldwide... I believe that one of the main causes of this is something that was mentioned in this audio... I am referring to the overwhelming access to information, which causes severe distraction and enhances attention deficit in those who are born with it and those who are not... Due to this problem, which has not been carefully studied yet, the reader should make pauses and ask questions in order to catch the attention of the listener... overall, the points made in this audio are very important for anyone in a leadership position or thinking of obtaining one... A focused leader can command attention if he or she is able to focus... A little exercise to focus is to picture all of those stressors crossing our mind and put them in a box when our job is to listen to someone or to read something of importance.

Using his legendary ability to get to the root of human potential, Napoleon Hill digs deep to reveal how fear, procrastination, anger, and jealousy prevent us from realizing our personal goals. This long-suppressed parable, once considered too controversial to publish, was written by Hill in 1938 following the publication of his classic bestseller, Think and Grow Rich. Annotated and edited for a contemporary audience by Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Three Feet from Gold coauthor Sharon Lechter, this book is profound, powerful, resonant, and rich with insight.
