Surprisingly good!

Unique storyline, good mystery, excellent narration! I listen to 2-3 books a week and I like crime mysteries. I don't write many reviews because most of the books are not noteworthy one way or the other. But I really enjoyed this book all the way through. The narration was excellent - brought the characters to life!

I have not been impressed by most of James Patterson's co-authored books and stopped listening to them quite a while ago. But the reviews for this one were great and I decided to give it a try. I really liked the story, the characters and the performance. Kept me interested all the way through. I intend to look for more books by Nancy Allen.

Stories good - narration excellent

Johnny Heller is one of the best narrators I have heard. I never felt like he was "reading" the book, like I do with so many characters. He was acting, and well. The stories are a bit farfetched but that is fiction. I had a lot of fun listening to these four books; Thomas (the character) is a funny guy. I got these 4 books from the Audible Plus catalog, which is sometimes iffy, but they are worth some credits.

LOVED the narration, captured the character perfectly. Not a classic story but good enough. This was my first Roseland book and I am going to try another.

So much more than a book about a horse!

I loved this book and the depth of the characters. Learned so much about the world of horse racing. Couldn't stop listening. Finished 13 hours in two days - didn't sleep much!

Not a murder mystery

I listened to all of this book because it was the only one I had downloaded before a long road trip that I was driving. It is NOT a murder mystery, it is a story about a self-centered, vain, condescending, sanctimonious, tv reporter who seems to believe that men are mysogynist, the media industry is both sexist and racist, and all law enforcement is corrupt. And then, the bad guys are steriotypes. Plus, the narration is terrible, cannot distinguish voices, clear that she is reading. Did I mention that the first person narrative is ridiculous. How many times did she mention gentrification of a black neighborhood? This story could have potential under the right circumstances. I will not be listening to any more of these stories.

Pretty good

Not the best or worst but I enjoyed it enough to finish. The sex scene was unnecessarily graphic, added nothing to the story line. I am going to look for other authors.

Good, interesting story, slow

Interesting mystery with great narration

Quite enjoyed listening to this book. Loved the narrators! The story is good but weak in spots and the actors carried it through.
