Historia
Like most of us, Toni Lodge tells little white lies all the time. Whether it's "I'm five minutes away" or "It must have gone to my spam folder", most of these innocent fibs are harmless. But what if you realised that you weren't just lying about the little things, but the big "life" stuff too? When Toni sat down to write this memoir, she realized that the lies she was telling herself were hiding some pretty important home truths—about her work, her identity and her mental health. In her dogged pursuit of these truths, she brazenly explores everything.

Tear your heart out and laugh out loud amazing! I don't think I could describe my feelings! I will say one thing, my husbands father exited life when he was 15. it's been almost 20 years and he still has good years and sad. Good months and sad, and sometimes even days where it's good or not. Speaking only of his grief. I feel his grief and adore it because, for those of us who had crap parents, it's beautiful to watch someone grieve for someone they loved so much. You guys are lucky to have parents worthy enough of grief. Sending all my love and positive vibes towards you and all those you love living and past.

Historia
Ever since Lucy was two, she’s been on the run alongside her mother. She’s never understood the reason for a lifetime of paranoia, aliases, and lies. All she understands are the rules: never lock eyes with strangers, never let down your guard, and always be ready to move on. Finally, after thirteen years and eleven states, their next hideaway seems perfect. An isolated, fortresslike place in the New Hampshire woods is the new home they share with its owner, a gentlemanly pianist, and his lonely daughter, Gretchen. But Gretchen and her father have secrets of their own.

How
Revisado: 06-24-24
I've known many a messed up family. Myself and my own biological father were adopted by the same people. My mother didn't know her father until 5 years ago. she grew to believe someone else was her father. but this..... why? how? I don't understand!?!? this is one of the toughest reads I have ever read.
Growing up not knowing when abuse started and it always being a part of your life is very difficult. if you don't learn how to mimic acceptable behavior young, you become the outcast. All my hope and prayers for these children. even those struggling today, I wish them healing and love.
we do survive. we can survive.

Historia
Ruth was a ghost of a girl when she arrived into foster mother Maggie Hartley's care. Pale, frail, and withdrawn, it was clear to Maggie that Ruth had seen and experienced things that no 11-year-old should have to, that she's been conditioned to "see no evil, speak no evil". Ruth is in desperate need of help, but can Maggie get through to her and unlock the harrowing secret she carries? Through love, reassurance, and patience, Maggie starts to unravel Ruth's painful past - a past defined by cruelty and abuse.

another heartbreaking story
Revisado: 06-08-24
It takes a very strong woman to be a single foster carer. Ruth, though very unlikeable at first, had my heart at the end. I need to know more about the other girls and their stories! I know not every child has as an intense story as Ruth did, every story matters.

Revisado: 05-21-24
I am so very proud of her for not feeling the requirement to explain every gorry detail. No one should be forced to relive that if they don't want!!!! She is so very smart to keep her brain active all those years. I think only so many people know how to survive and that is what she is a brilliant survivor!!!! good luck to you in the rest of your life Natasha!

great ending
Revisado: 02-02-23
I did really enjoy my time with this story. However there are a few of hers that I enjoyed more. It was a great time while reading, but I don't think much will stick after a few weeks time. if that changes I will change my review!
Authors that pump out material like this, after awhile it all seems to meld into one type of story. Middle of the road read!

Confusion?
Revisado: 01-04-23
It took me quite awhile to realize what movie this was based after, maybe that could be mentioned after the title? It was exciting to listen to it this way! Books after movies are always predictable, but in a good way! Worth a listen, the intensity of a Halloween movie stays throughout
