less cheesy and more thought provoking
Revisado: 09-17-20
Wildcard was a much less cheesy and way more thought provoking than Warcross. The book still was overly fantastical and trope-y, but it was good. A fun quick read and if you like YA LitRPGs, there's no reason not to give this a shot

Another dumbed-down YA novel...

Another super cringy YA novel I couldn't put down
Revisado: 09-15-20
I don't know what's happening to me. I used to hate YA novels. what has happened? am I less pretentious now? I don't know. All I know is that I was able to stand the cringy romance and way over powered lead character (apparently this is called a "Mary sue"). The action was well paced. The ending of the book was predictable but just thought provoking enough to make it worth it.

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.
