Historia
I had a feeling this goat yoga retreat was going to turn my life upside down, But I never imagined it would turn my infuriating neighbor upside down. What is Luke Tesson doing here, posed in downward dog? He usually avoids me. And I’ve always pretended I don’t notice him. But how am I supposed to look away when he’s got a baby goat balanced on his behind? From the first moment he moved in next door it was instant-sparks. If I were to be honest, it felt like insta-love. But insta-love is insane, and risky. I am highly risk-averse, so I quickly turned that longing into looking away. Due...

AI was terrible
Revisado: 05-31-25
AI made it next to impossible to tell when the female character versus the male character was speaking
I had to continuously orient myself to the male or the female role.
Also, the AI mispronounced common words, and emphasized the wrong part of the word.
Over all the AI in my opinion was a fail.
The story itself was superficial and had no depth to the characters.

Historia
To the outside world, they seem to have it all. Cassie Barrett, a renowned anthropologist, and Alex Rivers, one of Hollywood's hottest actors, met on the set of a motion picture in Africa. They shared childhood tales, toasted the future, and declared their love in a fairy-tale wedding. But when they return to California, something alters the picture of their perfect marriage. A frightening pattern is taking shape - a cycle of hurt, denial, and promises, thinly veiled by glamour.

Enabling woman and abusive man.
Revisado: 02-16-25
I found this story difficult to listen to. Not only the accounts of physical and emotional abuse, but the account of a woman trapped in a very unhealthy relationship.
It was ultimately a tragedy, even though she finally was able to save herself and her infant son. Although I felt compassion for both of them, I also felt angry at them both for what they were creating. Maybe all young people who would like a loving partner ought to read a story like this.
Jodi Pinault did an excellent job of painting a vivid picture of this emotional and physical roller coaster.

Some some not

Liked some surprising endings. I agree with the review, which said some stories were very good others not so much. Several ended with the reader hanging, to decide what the ending is.

Environmental devastation and economic chaos have turned America into a land of horrifying depravity. Assault, theft, sexual abuse, slavery, and murder are commonplace. And a zealous, bigoted tyrant has won his way into the White House. Directly opposed is Lauren Olamina, founder of Earthseed - a new faith that teaches "God Is Change". Persecuted for "heathen" beliefs as much as for having a Black female leader, Earthseed's followers face a life-and-death struggle to preserve their vision.
