The descriptions leap out in the imagination. Lots of humor built in to the narrative.

Oliver Sacks is a writer about who we are, not as a mental monolith, but instead, as a huge complex collection of individual parts. We only think we are whole personalities. He gives detailed descriptions of patients that have severe mental conditions, but still have much to offer from parts of their brains. I found the book illuminating. He shows deep empathy and original thought.

I have a liberal arts background, not trained in science at all, but found the book fascinating. John M. Barry explains the science of the 1918 Influenza, but weaves it with absorbing descriptions of the military in WWI, President Wilson, and especially the character and motivations of the scientists involved with battling the disease. Scott Brick did a fine narration, bringing the words to life from the page.

I enjoyed every word of My Life on the Road, from her most personally expressed feelings to her perceptive, intelligent descriptions of political happenings of her time. It was my time too, as a college educated women born in the 1940's. She became a great activist and writer and had a big influence for the betterment of our country. My own life as an artist was always personal. Ms. Steinem lived way beyond that. Thank you, Ms. Steinem for all you've done and all you put into words!!!6

Sapiens starts with the Big Bang and ends with bioengineered human beings that hardly resemble our present selves (in the not so distant future).
The book is read very well. There are so many ideas to think about, I plan to listen to it again.

Bring Up The Bodies is a beautifully written book. Hilary Mantel lends her imagination skillfully to depict the live of many characters, primarily Henry the Eighth and his right hand man, Thomas Cromwell.

Wolf Hall is an exceptional read into the life and time of Henry VIII, his divorce and all that it meant to England and to history. The real star of the show is the guiding Thomas Cromwell. Hilary Mantel engages her rich imagination to flesh out the thoughts and behaviors of the people, giving the reader the pleasure of reading a lovely novel rather than a dry history. But here the events are real.
Very well read. Different voices for each person speaking.
