An intimate in-depth and emotional account of Mike’s youth, time in the Heartbreakers and his friendship with Tom. I laughed and cried at the same time. One of the best autobiographies written and well worth the credit and time.

Sadly disappointing

I was dying to get this book and had high expectations. Unfortunately it’s a book about unlikeable characters in a a depressing story. I’ve tried multiple times to slog through this but I just can’t. All I can say is avoid this!

Meh - generally interesting but predictable

I enjoyed most of this book. It’s reasonably well written and the facts presented by the author are believable. How ever, I did not find any reader issues as described in the other reviews. The character studies are presented with a little of bit of Mexican culture; they were interesting and more would have made the characters stronger. As for the remainder characters are given tasks with no clear purpose or point. In general, the parents are awful; the main characters are often used as a convenient way to advance the plot. And I’m afraid that I bypassed prior reviews in advance of the purchase. This book gets lost in a morass of particular situations, the romance gets lost and the reader must suspend belief that seems ludicrous. I don’t want to reveal too much as the author deserves your unbiased attention as the story comes forward. So, it was an OK read, could have used more character development and backstory for the characters. And I purchased this without appropriate due diligence. Alternatively (same author) Rizzoli and Iles are still among my favorite detectives and I’m looking forward to the next release.

Tedious

I’m so disappointed. I tried very hard to find something positive to say about this audible. I loathe people that give totally negative reviews about the work many put forth to create this book. Sadly, nothing comes to mind. The primary character is dull and unlikeable. The lispy, whispy narration is off putting. I can’t even imagine how I got through without brain damage. My recommendation is just no. Don’t waste your credit here.

Great story!

This is the final book in the trilogy. All of the books demonstrate a great imagination and also present a journey that our heroes make to find their own true selves. I really enjoyed all three books!

Not for me!

Sorry, I know that this is a much beloved book but I found it both long and tedious. I ended up skipping many chapters to get to the end. I have now abandoned any further efforts to slog through the bits of the bypassed story. As for the narrator, I don’t think she was a good match for this book nor did she bring the characters to life for me. I would urge all to listen to the preview before purchasing. Oh well!

Gripping

Not normally a book I would choose but I picked it up in an Audible sale. I must admit that it was a gripping story and I was so engaged and engrossed that I finished listening in just 2 days. Truly a great listen! And my congratulations to the narrator too - fabulous way of capturing the nuances and inflection of each character’s voice. Enjoy!

I have read many of SEPs works and found most to be very enjoyable -- and some had laugh out loud moments but not this. Save your credits for something else. I rarely leave a book unfinished but this is one that I just cannot slog my way through. It's just not up to par. I am returning.
