Really enjoyed the light humor sprinkled throughout these novels. I listened to them out of order but still enjoyed this one as much as if I had listened to it first.

This book drew me in very quickly! Regarding the narration, the “mountain” accents varied from realistic Appalachian twang to Piedmont/Low Country lilt. I kept telling myself that maybe those characters had moved to the mountains after being raised on the coast or in the Piedmont. I also felt a few of the old timers in the mountains had an unintelligible accent. However, that’s not unrealistic in nature. I chose to focus on the characters and the story instead of fixating on the narrators. Overall, another win by Lisa Wingate!

I enjoyed these books so much that I did some research on Charles Martin and what inspired him to write them. I love the mixture of faith and struggle that the characters experience. The pain and suffering of those being trafficked was so real that I was not sure if I could continue, but Charles has a way of drawing you into the topic so that you have to see it through.

Everything about this book kept me captivated. The plot, the narration, and the characters all had me from the first chapter! Can’t wait to listen to the next one in the series.

This book got off to a slow start for me. I had trouble engaging with the style and narrator at first. However, I’m really glad I decided to keep listening. The storyline drew me in, and the personalities of the characters came through the narrators voice as I listened. I would recommend this book and would listen to it again!

Ready for a book that is spiritually uplifting and challenging all at once? “The Divine Adventure” by Rebecca Friedlander is exactly that! Combining illustrations, scripture, and a “your turn” section for each chapter, Rebecca’s writing style and narration draws me in and then reminds me that spiritual discipline is ongoing and something to cherish! It’s not always convenient, but it’s always worth it!

Loved the storyline and the narration was incredible. Be prepared to wade through 19th century vocabulary and sentence structure. I was reminded of days in British Lit class where the teacher had to stop to explain the meanings of words no longer used in common language.
