Historia
It seemed the unthinkable had happened. Someone had actually targeted the Ghalian, an order of assassins known and feared across the systems. It was madness. Only a fool would go after the likes of them. But, it seemed, the galaxy had no shortage of fools. Retaliation most bloody was in order, and one man stood ready to spring into action. Hozark was his name, and he was no ordinary man. He was a Master Ghalian, an assassin skilled in the ways of death. Practical, mechanical, magical, to him it made no difference.

Obvious Villain
Revisado: 09-17-24
So much about this series was enjoyable EXCEPT that the villain of the story was obvious from the very beginning. I can’t decide whether this is clumsy work or intentional. Did the author intend for us to know and be tortured through the whole series wondering just how these extraordinary assassins could fail to see what was so obvious or did the author think his audience was stupid?
Even so, I did enjoy this series. It was light and fun and not terribly tedious.

Kaz Wolfe has everything he needs to prevent a Convergence that would allow gods and monsters from the Nether to invade our world. Everything, other than a single clue about what a Convergence is. Or how it works. Or how to stop it. To get answers, he might have to take a fun-filled family road trip to the last place he wants to go: the Netherworld.

Historia
The enemy unknowingly opened a portal to the Netherworld, and our world’s only wizard somehow managed to close it. Unfortunately, something got through. Something big. A dragon. Now Kaz Wolfe, with help from his dog Duke who is channeling the spirit of a wizard from ancient Babylon, and with no help from Azib the Cowardly Genie, must find the dragon before someone gets a cellphone video of the thing, and the world learns that magic is real. Or, you know, before the dragon eats someone.

Historia
My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

The Last Hand of the Oversight still patrols the border between the natural and supranatural, holding a candle to the darkness. But this new Hand is unproven, its fresh members untrained, its veterans weary and battle-scarred. Their vulnerability brings new enemies into the city and surprising new allies from across the sea.

What a shame. A wonderful story almost completely ruined by the slurred narration by the author. Often it sounds like he has a mouth full of marbles. I won’t buy the next in the series because I see that it is also narrated by Fletcher.

Disappointed that de Cuir is still narrating
Revisado: 08-25-22
I find Gabrielle’s de Cuir’s reading to be so irritating and distracting. I hate how she read’s the male characters and for some reason her female narration sounds like she has something in her mouth. I have been hoping that she would be replaced in future books in the series, but no.
I love Stefan Rudnicki’s narration.

Started off great and then kinda fizzled
Revisado: 02-14-21
At first I thought that this was going to be a fantastic book. The introduction Lyria to the story was brilliant; the opening chapters were moving. And then we are draw into the uneasy telling of the tarnishing of our hero Darrow. Even that was a smart evolution. But the story dragged with Lysander and I feel like Darrow’s character is just one dimensional. One thing I wish the author would consider is integrating some humor, not too much. Just enough to provide some depth to the characters and a break from the drama.
Where it first started to fall apart for me had nothing to do with the story and everything to do with the weak production of the narration. The narrator of Lysander has a elegant voice but the delivery was flat and monotonous. Whoever directed his part failed him and us. The sound quality throughout was startlingly uneven. Very irritating. Tim Gerard Reynolds is a favorite and was enjoyable except for the poorly spliced areas. Overall the production was not good. This is the failing of production and not the narrators themselves.
So with such distracting sound and delivery issues I think it is fair to acknowledge that had the production been better, I might have enjoyed the book more. Unfortunately I have lost interest for now and may or may not bother with the rest of the series. Definitely going to take a break even though the world Pierce Brown has created in these books is fascinating.
