wonderful mystery plot and superb narrator
Revisado: 10-08-24
This is another wonderfully plotted mystery but it is so much more in it's exploration of morality and ethics and personal responsibility. David Colacci is probably the best voice actor I have ever listened to. He reads it so sensitively and brings the characters to life.

Historia
During intermission at the famed La Fenice opera house in Venice, Italy, a notoriously difficult and widely disliked German conductor is poisoned—and suspects abound. Guido Brunetti, a native Venetian, sets out to unravel the mystery behind the high-profile murder. To do so, he calls on his knowledge of Venice, its culture, and its dirty politics. Along the way, he finds the crime may have roots going back decades—and that revenge, corruption, and even Italian cuisine may play a role.

Briliantly read, and a subtle and wonderfully thoughtful novel
Revisado: 03-29-24
A friend told me about the author, Donna Leon, and so I downkoaded this, her first novel in the Guido Brunetti series. I was blown away by the careful, subtle, and wonderfully thoughtful style of her writing as she unfold the story. Amazing descriptions as she's builds the narrative. And the reader was truly wonderful and did justice to the story. Great narration. He really brings these characters to life.

The most absurd and lurid plot badly read

Historia
On a cold and rainy Stockholm night, nine bus riders are gunned down by an unknown assassin. The press, anxious for an explanation for the seemingly random crime, quickly dubs him a madman. But Superintendent Martin Beck of the Stockholm Homicide Squad suspects otherwise. This apparently motiveless killer has managed to target one of Beck's best detectives - and he, surely, would not have been riding that lethal bus without a reason.
