Historia
The Founders were the first marked, and they used those powers to build kingdoms, subjugate the land, and enrich themselves. They will not suffer another to join their ranks. Lost in a world with levels, stats, and monsters, Hal fights to survive in an unforgiving land, and to escape execution from its rulers. Ingenuity and courage won’t be enough. With marked powers he doesn’t understand, he’s easy prey for all the goblins, bandits, aberrations, and foul monsters that plague the realm. He’ll need to abandon his humanity by embracing the beast within.

Started out great but dies out about chapter 60.
Revisado: 04-29-25
This book really had me hooked in the beginning. Something changed between chapters 55ish and 60. Then it became a slog. Not sure what the author was doing but I went from being interested to falling asleep. Maybe because it starts jumping around a bit more between different characters or maybe because the plot took a turn for the worst.

I enjoyed the story but some parts are very predictable. Even with that, I would purchase book two ( if when it comes out). I enjoy the Soundbooth theatre crew and they performed great as always.

Terrible sequel
Revisado: 03-05-25
Multiple chapters dedicated to individual card stats. Super short with little to no closure on the storyline. The author needs to go back to the style and length of the first book. Extremely dissatisfied with book two. As always great job by the narration crew. Not sure why this book was rated so high. Felt like a waste of money honestly.

Best Dakota Krout Series I’ve Listened To
Revisado: 05-08-24
I have had a few Dakota Krout books that I never even finished. This was not one of those. I really enjoyed the comedy between the characters and am waiting for more of the series. I tried not to take the book “too seriously” and really enjoyed listening. Narration was great and I had no issues.

Historia
The long-awaited sequel to Jake’s Magical Market is finally here—and now with more market! Well, not quite yet. First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Using a combination of his new powers, he threw himself backward through time, back to when the god that trapped him first rose to power.

Was ok!
Revisado: 02-29-24
Although I am usually one to complain about different narrators, I thought John did a good job and he was a good stand-in. I also appreciated that the author took the time to explain why there was a change. With that being said, I felt this book was a little flat. For a god, the MC seems helpless and spends most of his time dying. The MC’s friends look at, and refer to him as “an idiot,” which gets old. I found myself constantly asking “why.” The humor doesn’t seem as funny or as charming as the first book. I will continue to listen and purchase because I am interested to see where Jake goes from here. 4 stars for performance and 3 stars for story - giving an overall 4 stars. Still worth a listen but don’t expect it to live up to book one.

Disappointing
Revisado: 11-12-23
*SPOILER ALERT* I have no idea why this book has so many good reviews. Everything in book one was pretty much thrown into the trash and the storyline restarted. Why get your readers so invested into characters just to kill them all off. I don’t think I will be moving on to book three. Disappointing considering I really enjoyed book 1.

Going Backwards
Revisado: 11-09-23
I cannot believe there are so many positive reviews. This series keeps getting further and further away from the first couple books (which were great). This book is full of fluff and non MC’s telling their story from their point of view. Overall this is a filler book that didn’t add much to the main storyline or show enough character growth to be worthy of the series. At book 9, I could also do without all the recapping. Who starts a series at book 9 anyway. If it wasn’t for Heath Miller narrating I would have probably not finished. I did fast fwd through some of the “blah-blah-blah” parts. Cringeworthy.
