Benjamin and Pheobe

The turn Pheobe and her mother's lives had taken since her father's death was hard to even comprehend. He'd been dead a year and they were fortunate not to be in the poor house. Pheobe has been using her wit, selling off their possessions that has value enough to help put food on their table. Her ultimate plan to save them was common among girls of the ton when facing abject poverty, marriage.
A wonderful story that will keep you smiling, mostly, and turning the pages as quickly as you can read. Enjoy!

A different kind of mail order!

Very enjoyable series detailing the lives of several bachelors in a small town out west before the turn of the twentieth century. Lots of good and evil, even more open hearts and homes, and friendships that cross so cultural boundaries. Really good read.

Filled with heart warming stories of different couples within the Friessen family, you'll love the warmth and caring of these siblings, their spouses, their children, and their grandparents! It's like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket by the fire and listening to a family tell you their stories. So good!

Harassed!

It's been two years since Chelsea made the mistake of loosing her virginity to a good looking classmate, only to discover he'd video taped their encounter. Much to Chelsea's surprise, her journal is retrieved by the most attractive man she's ever seen. In the process of rescuing her from her nemesis, he pulls her into his arms, lays a hot kiss on her, and announces that they are engaged!
Nothing could have prepared her for the reaction of her parents when she arrived home. Someone had taken a picture of the kiss and posted it on social media, where it has gone viral! Now everyone in her small town, and the world, thinks she's engaged to the gorgeous stranger. She may not be able to keep the deep, dark secret of her first time, and what her vicious classmate has been doing to her since then, any longer!
Chelsea thought her life couldn't get any worse, but little did she know. You'll want to be there to cheer her on as her family becomes involved and her knight's identity is revealed. So well written and believable, with rich, deep characters you'll love and a few you'll despise.
I highly recommend this book for mature readers. A really great read you won't want to miss!

Railroaded

Jack planned his motorcycle tour of the country, taking back roads to see the small towns and meet the locals, having saved for years to afford it. The last thing he expected was the sound of a siren behind him. He wasn't quite sure what state he was in and knew he wasn't speeding. This wasn't a race for him and taking in everything around him was his goal, not shortening the pleasure of his trip. When the policemen started yelling for him to put his hands up and keep them where they could see them, Jack was caught off guard. Why were they treating him like a criminal?
A great story, fast and completely unexpected in its complexity. I highly recommend it for mature readers. A wonderful choice for a few quiet hours!

Human Frailty

This book draws you into the poor decisions and deceit that can tear marriages apart. We look at marriages of friends and family and judge the closeness of a couple and their joined past by what we see on the surface. Most of the time we are wrong. A thought provoking, tender book.

Touching

A wonderfully, sensitive story of a family running from a scary extended family, only to find themselves in a far worse situation in their new town. You'll be glad you chose to read this book. With characters and plot that are deep and complex, the author has given you a very realistic view of a family in crisis. Excellent!

Great story, 5 star--disappointing audio rendition!

I seldom splurge on audio books but decided to give myself a treat when I saw the $1.99 price for adding audio to this book. I've listened to hundreds of books on audio, but this reading included wierd voices for most of the male characters that truly detracted from the lovely story. My apology to the author for a review that reflects only the audio (probably 2 stars), not the quality of her writing. I would have preferred to listen to the story in Kindle's Text-to-Voice!
