The story would be better if the narrator was different
Revisado: 06-25-22
I couldn’t stand the narrator. Too sing-songy in places, pronunciations were weird sometimes, and the accents were terrible. The way she did the voice of Hanks was so bad that I really hoped he wasn’t a big part of the story (he was). Story was ok, but mawkish at times.

The narrator makes this book fantastic

Any additional comments?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I suspect it is mostly because of the narrator. The voices are AMAZING. I don't know that I would be as interested in the story if I read it myself, because he does an outstanding job. The story itself was interesting, but the narrator brings it alive.

I thought I would like this more
Revisado: 02-24-17
I recently listened to an attorney/law novel that I enjoyed, so I figured John Grisham was a good bet. If you are ok with A LOT of detail and a storyline that drags on, then you'll probably like it. I got bored quite a bit. I had to increase the speed to double time just to get through it. I debated not even finishing the second one, because I didn't care enough about the protagonist or the story to want any more. But I finished it. Meh. Mediocre.

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Dark & disturbing
Revisado: 10-18-16
I wanted to like this story more, but the characters are awful people. I couldn't like any of them, much as I wanted to. The story is very compelling, but I realized I was disgusted most of the time listening with only a few hours left. If a ton of infidelity and shady, unrelatable characters don't bother you, you'll probably love it.

Historia
Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

Good story
Revisado: 06-03-16
Overall I liked the book. It's not a casual listen though. I had to rewind a few times because I'd miss something that was important, which I rarely have to do in other books. Interesting story. The only thing that bugged me was that the narrator would play a character, and then another person would also play that same character. It would be better/more interesting if they just stuck with the cast narrating their respective characters.
