A thrilling creature feature!
Revisado: 02-06-25
This story picks up from where the last one left off and it does not disappoint! Between the mysterious organization, the very real characters, and the discovery of even more menacing creatures I was glued with anticipation.
I absolutely love me a creature feature and these Skitter Critters are out of this world! or maybe they aren't... is that a spoiler? Each Critter's design has me wide-eyed envisioning the terrifying things clawing at me.
The humor Carpenter uses throughout is both a comfort and a bit of a set up, reeling me in with my guard way down as the tension rises.
Of all the things within this story what I appreciated the most was the characters. They are living breathing people residing within the pages. They feel like people I know, which gets me more invested in their well-being. Their struggle battling the unknown while battling their own trauma is something that is rarely, if ever, shown in military stories.
This is a real one and I def recommend it!

The Gods of Olympus were real. In fact, the great Olympian Zeus was the forefather for such historical giants as Thor and George Washington. But that was long ago. Now the descendants of the Gods have a new job: superhero. In a world where power and myth have walked hand in hand, professional heroes serve alongside humanity to combat those who would use their Gifts for evil.

This one was so different from the other two, moving the story into a more of a cult-horror story. It was very interesting, the thighs those cultists were doing...
I was a little sad that Jeri didn't have much to do within this story, she was my favorite from book 2,but Casare introduced a good replacement. My fav character for this book was easily Johnny D, a juggalo. He was an interesting character and I really enjoyed watching his arc unfold

A wonderful story with a fantastic message
Revisado: 09-27-24
This story deals with identity in the most wonderful way, a young boy discovering that elves are real.
Tyrone is a young black boy who loves graphic novels, fantasy, and is questioning his sexuality. Anyone growing up in minority group understands that this is the trifecta for being outcasted as "weird," any teens biggest fear.
But on one summer day while Tyrone is doing his summer land care for the neighborhood, he meets Jamal, a boy who seems completely different than anybody else. Jamal challenges societal constructs like, anything that involves one looking different than the majority. He also challenges the feelings that society opposes, such as a boy liking another boy.
Together, Tyrone discovers that the cares of society might be flawed while he discovers the most important revelation of all- himself.

Historia
Deep in the African rain forest, near the legendary ruins of the Lost City of Zinj, an expedition of eight American geologists are mysteriously and brutally killed in a matter of minutes. Ten thousand miles away, Karen Ross, the Congo Project Supervisor, watches a gruesome video transmission of the aftermath: a camp destroyed, tents crushed and torn, equipment scattered in the mud alongside dead bodies - all motionless except for one moving image - a grainy, dark, man-shaped blur.

One hell of an adventure in the jungle
Revisado: 06-20-24
Crichton is just awesome. His graphic imagery is pretty intense, definitely Sat with me for a bit. I love all the scientific and research facts scattered throughout the story just like with Jurassic Park. it really helps blur the lines between fiction and nonfiction.
I wasn't crazy about the reader, although I did love it when she read Amy's lines.
I thought the grey apes were very interesting. I wish the film adaptation honored the written work more because I am very curious to see these creatures.

what an experience!
Revisado: 06-14-24
This was a film I've seen many times and it was a really neat experience to hear the audiobook. I am a big fan of the Star Wars books and had been looking forward to reading this one. I always thought the film was heavily filled with good backstory and that a novelization would be even better.
With this being my first time with an audio SW book It did not disappoint! All the sound effects and music truly created a cinematic experience
