Easton Calloway needs a wifey, pronto, and he chooses me to temporarily fill the position. While I want to tell him to eff off, I can't walk away from the temptation. So, I do what any broke actress living in New York City would do, and I agree to the terms and conditions. It should be easy: a year of marriage, a cushy penthouse in the city, and a spending allowance. After three hundred sixty-five days, I'll receive divorce papers and a check in the mail. All I have to do is pretend we're happily married without falling in love.

Billionaire Needs a Wife in a Hurry
Revisado: 11-25-24
She's a maid at an upscale hotel. When she finds a watch in an unoccupied room, she pockets it, only to discover there is a very naked man in the shower and she hightails it out of the room.
He immediately knows that his watch is missing and has her fired. And yet, he's intrigued by her.
He's also in a bind. He needs a wife in order to become the leader of his company when his father retires. He's worked his whole life for this and if he doesn't have a real wife, someone less qualified takes over. This is a sexy book about two people who are strongly attracted to each other.
The narrators are great.

Murder Mystery with a Ghost
Revisado: 03-29-24
This was a great story about a young woman, Jesse, starting again in a run-down, abandoned house that had been left to her by an Aunt. She never felt loved by her mother and her father had disappeared. When she caught her fiancé butt naked with another woman, she broke off the engagement and moved out of 1960's Rochester, NY to the abandoned house in a small town in the Finger Lakes region. There she accidentally meets the son, Joe, of her aunt's best friend, Susan.
The house is inhabited by mice and many other creatures. Jesse gets help from an exterminator and her newfound friend, Joe. She's been told the house is haunted and she finds out that her aunt apparently committed suicide there more than 25 years before.
She hears strange sounds at night and sees a light in the attic room. But most disconcerting is the reaction of many of the townspeople who knew her aunt.
There is a big mystery about her aunt's death and why people seem to be angry that Jesse is there, disrupting the status quo.
This book is not so much a ghost story, but a mystery that is unfolding because of the ghost. Also interesting is Jesse's almost-lifelong best friend is a nun at a Catholic school near Jesse's new home. I thought the book was well written and the story was intriguing. I listened to the audio version of the book. The narrator was great and I didn't want the story to end.

A Battle for a Mind - by Mind Readers/Controllers
Revisado: 02-29-24
David can enter your mind and explore your thoughts and memories. He's part of an elite, exclusive team at the FBI. Grace is an artist and David takes an interest in her. She has been corresponding with a man online, but he's stood her up when they were supposed to meet. She's reluctant to start a relationship with David.
However, she becomes the central battle ground between the good guys, mainly David and a bad guy, The Hacker. The in-mind battles take a physical toll on the human body. But why is The Hacker interested in Grace?
This is a great thriller. Can David help Grace battle The Hacker? Will either or both survive?
I listened to the audio version. The narrator is the author and she is very good. She is a reader, she doesn't change her voice when she reads the parts of each character. I enjoyed her performance.

Must keep reading for some interesting outcomes
Revisado: 12-10-23
This book has interesting components that meld into a compelling story. A mother of two grown children suddenly loses her husband in a bicycle accident. He had always been overly protective of her. While she's struggling to overcome her grief and try to find her footing in her new life, she branches out to resume some things she loved in her previous version of life, and to restructure other aspects.
As she's starting to recover, the reader learns of some disturbing events that she never knew about. The ending is particularly clever and surprising.
This is the first book I've read by the author. I will be reading more of her work.
I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator was excellent.

Historia
When Beckett decides he’s also interested in purchasing the Horseshoe Creek Ranch, my dreams of owning a bed-and-breakfast become a nightmare. He refuses to give me what I want while playing dirty—a common theme in our rivalry. Because of him, we’re in a ridiculous bidding war for the land. We might have hated each other since our teens, but the stakes have never been so high. And right now, I’m more determined than ever to take down my best friend’s older brother—cowboy boots and all.

Friends to Enemies with Lots of Sex
Revisado: 10-06-23
This is a sister's best friend, enemies to lovers story. Beckett and Summer have been in love with each other for years and everyone else can see that, but each of them thinks they are enemies.
After more than a decade, Beckett decides to break down the barriers. After that, it's explicit sex all the time. Still, they are trying to outbid each other for a large ranch that is coming on the market and neither trusts the other. There is a simple solution, but they can't seem to see it.
I think this will be a good series, but the frequency of sex scenes was a bit more than was necessary for the story.
I listened to the audio and both of the narrators were wonderful.

One night stand lovers become adversaries
Revisado: 09-11-23
Kate lives on the grounds of an estate, which is owned by a cash-poor Earl. She works in the tea shop and the pub. She is gloriously happy in her jobs and wants to live on the estate forever. She chooses to have a one night stand with a gorgeous man who eats at the pub one night. The sex is earth-shattering for both.
However, Kate soon finds out that Vincent is negotiating to purchase the estate to turn it into a high class hotel resort. From hot lovers, they become adversaries. Vincent is trying to save the fine features of the resort, as well as the jobs of most of the workers, but major changes must be made.
As the book progresses, we learn that both Kate and Vincent have had traumatic events in their lives that they have pushed to the background to become successful adults. Only the trauma comes to fore causing their fledging relationship to founder.
This is a very touching love story with each trying their best to overcome their own issues while supporting the person that they are falling in love with.
I listened to the audio version. I thought both narrators were very good.

Rebels are on the move
Revisado: 07-17-23
Their world is not in good hands. The young band of resistors, or Rebels, are running and hiding. They are very clever and elude the government forces, but they need their wits and some tricks. This is part two of the series and the story does not conclude with this book. However, the story in this book is engrossing and fun to read.
Very good book. I recommend for teens and young adults.
Narration is very good.

11 Bad years with a HEA
Revisado: 07-16-23
Nylia and Manelik' were best friends for years, became lovers and then a misunderstanding caused them both to feel rejected and devastated. We know the difficulties that Nylia has been struggling with for years. She comes from a highly dysfunctional family and she's barely keeping her head above water.
Manelik, on the other hand is from a large family and he's now a very successful drummer for a famous rock band, along with another profession that was touched on a few times. He's wealthy and has connections.
I love Claudia Burgoa stories and she's a very talented author. The story was very good, as was the narration by two different actors. I was frustrated that these two characters just didn't talk to each other when granted multiple opportunities. Although this is a stand alone book, it might be better to have read the previous book in the series, Maybe it's you. I'm planning to go back and read that one next.

Man needing a nanny finds much more
Revisado: 07-12-23
A man who has just learned that he is a father, also discovers that the mother, a one night stand, is dead. Her parents are fighting to get the baby back. He changes as much of his life as he can but he needs a nanny. He finds that his neighbor is a baby expert. But she isn't - she has taken over her recently deceased mother's business. As the two stumble at first, with a cranky baby, they take giant steps with the baby - and with their own relationship.
This is a relatively long book. Lots of family dynamics, life issues, and a sexy relationship that neither wanted. I enjoyed it thoroughly,
The narrator was wonderful. I loved the playfulness in her voice.

Finding pathways after life is interrupted
Revisado: 05-13-23
Janey is enjoying her job and her life in Chicago, writing for a paper aimed at young adults, and being in love with her boss. Then on one horrible day, she finds out that she's lost her job, her boyfriend, her parents and her sister's marriage is in crisis.
She moves to her family home in Cape Elizabeth, ME where she and her sister learn to pick up the pieces and move onward. This is a fairly lighthearted book, especially considering the tragedies that they experienced in short order. It's got some truly funny parts and a happy ending.
I lived near Concord MA and Cape Elizabeth ME so many of the locales in the book were very familiar to me. That gives me an extra kick of pleasure.
I listened to the audio version of the book. The narrator was excellent.
