Historia
Reeling from the conflict with the dwarves, Ken and several Haylon classes move to an event on the 28th floor of a dead branch of the dungeon to prepare for the raid. While he’s busy training, his grandparents give him his first mission to assess and carry out on his own. Between Ken’s time of scouting out and investigating his target, he runs in with the other three schools and learns he’s not the only ace damage dealer. Pendulum, Trusk and the Royal Academy all have a student that’s a head above the rest of their peers.

Very good but a little too much smut
Revisado: 03-20-25
I really like the story line for this book. In previous books I’ve been able to just skip to the end of the chapters to move past things when they got too involved but this book had things happen in the middle or end of chapters with very adult themes. There are times I like a book for the smut and when I like the book for the story, this balanced it fairly well until the end which became almost all smut.

Possession Transitions were ruff
Revisado: 08-12-24
The general story and reading of the book were great but a couple things stood out
Pros
The characters were well established and entertaining
The plot line was fast enough not to put me to sleep
Cons
The performance was great, except for Ghost. It somehow was grating every time there was a transition to Ghost and it took away from the book. I don’t feel this was a flaw in the story itself so I took a star off the performance for it. I understand they were going for gravely rough sounding but some of the sound effects while transitioning was unnecessary and distracting and the frequency of the voice changes had me want to just remove my headphones until one voice spoke for more than one sentence.
Overall a good book but I could have done without the embellishing for voice changes.

Lots and lots of stats
Revisado: 05-06-24
This book had a great story line, was performed well and has decent flow.
This book also has an outrageous amount of stats that do not translate into audio books well and don’t always end at the end of a chapter so you can just skip them if you want. It felt like 1/4 of the book was reading stats but I’m sure that’s an exaggeration based on me getting tired of hearing them.

Historia
David has mastered magic, alchemy, farming, and even built his own house. As it turns out, elven courtship rituals are at least as complicated as any of those. David has to overcome many trials before he can call the fair elven maiden Celeste his own. There will be moonlit walks, deep conversations, and a bake-off during which Celeste’s stuffy uncle and David’s… vibrant grandparents will need to get along… Defeating a troll to get an engagement ring is probably going to be the easy part.

It has ups and downs
Revisado: 05-01-24
This is my opinion so take it as you will, but there was way too much singing and explicit sex scenes. After a while it felt like there was only a small portion of a story with a LOT of fillers. I liked that for the sex scenes they were usually there own chapter or at the end of one so if I didn’t feel in the mood to listen to it or was in a more public place, I could just skip to the end of the chapter and I didn’t miss anything significant in the story arc. I didn’t like that the story was poorly edited with repeated phrases and odd voice excerpts which made a couple parts either confusing or annoying. The other books in this series had similar pros and cons but this one seemed much shorter on the story part and much longer on scenes I chose to skip because of there nature. It feels like this book had sex in every other chapter but they were hard to count since they don’t announce the chapters when they change so if I’m walking or working on something I couldn’t check the screen.

Historia
David always was an outdoorsman and an explorer. But when Earth merged with the magical world of Tannoris, it suddenly became too dangerous for anyone without a Class to leave the cities. A shame, too, because with elves, foxkin, catkin, and many other magical beings abound, there is plenty for him to experience! But now, David’s dream just might come true! A mystical ritual will awaken his Class, and a budding homestead on the wild frontier is waiting for him to take ownership.

Good story with decent Characters
Revisado: 04-07-24
The story started a little slow but picked up steam pretty quickly. It seemed more like a true romance with light petting but It got into much more graphic details about sexual activity and although I don’t mind that sometimes, it seems to come out of the blue. General example is something like they were out working the land in one paragraph followed by a chapters worth of erotica in the next.
What I’m trying to say is the story was good but too short and the author went into way too much detail in the bedroom scenes and pretty much just repeated the same plot points the rest of the time. So if you’re in it for a good story, possibly with heavy petting, I would skip this one unless you’re looking for the more erotic scenery. About half the book seems to be bedroom fantasies.

Horrible writing with live action narrator
Revisado: 03-17-24
This book has potential, but I’ll be honest and say I couldn’t get past the first few chapters. I understand that some books take a while to get good but this one sounded like a high school freshman wrote it and his drama friends tried acting it out with sound affects and they used that recording for this book. The story repeats a lot of the same themes, sounds like a bratty teen for someone who is supposed to be hundreds of years old. The more I read my review, instead of drama maybe it’s a recorded dnd session with the narrator reading how he and the author think it should sound but is just wrong. The words make me think of a pimply junior high kid with a squeaky voice but the narrator had a deeper more grown up voice. I don’t know if the story was just bad, I couldn’t get past the narrator or maybe it was the combination, but I would strongly not recommend this book unless you have strong mental fortitude and a friend says it does get better. I couldn’t make it.

Series good, this book iffy.
Revisado: 11-24-23
I’ll try to keep this short, the series was great until this last book. It felt like the author was telling a story, saw the clock and realized he had 30 minutes to finish the story and shoved all these random details into a mash at the end and the reader is left feeling confused.
Technical issues:
This book is missing entire words that were cut or re-recorded wrong. It makes it sound like you’re on a cell phone in a tunnel at times where they are having a conversation and then a short gap of nothing and then a different part of the conversation is going on. The voice actors were great and I have no complaints with them, but the editing person was horrible and left a lot of issues. I usually listen at 1.2 speed but after about 3 oddities I changed to 1x speed and kept trying to skip back to make sure I didn’t just miss things, but they were just missing.
Story issues:
I like the theme of most of the book but parts of the temple should have either been a paragraph explaining that it happened and everyone’s reaction or had a much better and longer story behind it. It had me questioning large parts of the series because things happen and it makes you question most of the rest of the series, then it jumps back and is like oh, never mind, I’m just messing with you. It really messes with the flow of the story.
My opinions:
I’ve seen other reviews that complained about how many open ended threads this series left hanging and that it felt rushed and incomplete. I would strongly agree with that feeling. It sets up all these issues that Alex promised to check up on and then at the end it feels like he pitches them all out the window and says okay I’m done (queue canned live happy ever after themes) and a statement that the series is now over.

Earth as a new Dungeon World means opportunities and dangers galore. One of the enduring aspects of the System is the Shop, an interdimensional series of stores that compete for the opportunity to service clients and make a profit doing so. New clients on a new Dungeon World mean rare and heretofore unseen items and massive profits. No surprise that the vultures have arrived, searching for easy marks.

Interesting Story, horrible narration
Revisado: 09-17-23
The story was a good Tao Wong story. I wish it was longer and had more details but for the price, wasn’t bad. The narrator could have been a computer for all the inflection and emotion I heard in the voice. The performance was terrible but tolerable. Didnt make me want to stop listening but I have listened to books just because I like the narrator and this one I would avoid unless I really liked the author. I give one star to the ones I have to stop listening to because they give me headaches. She wasn’t that bad.

Rest of series is better
Revisado: 02-14-23
The rest of the series is better.
Pro: some interesting background, character development was good.
Con: the book jumps around so it gets a little confusing when listening. Lots of dates that don’t mean much if you can’t compare to last chapter to see if it’s before or after the current one.
The performance was horrible, monotone droning. Hard to keep interesting while listening, fell asleep at least twice while listening.

Better than I expected
Revisado: 01-27-23
This book was much better than I expected and overall I enjoyed it.
Likes: The plot was interesting and entertaining. It was a supernatural murder mystery type story which I enjoy. The story line does jump around some at the beginning but really comes together for the ending.
Dislikes: I don’t care about sexual orientation, but I also don’t want details like how tongues intertwined in a make out session. I’m kind of prudish that way and if you don’t enjoy those kinds of details there will be parts of this book you won’t enjoy.
