Nothing happened in this book except arguing and sex. It was exhausting to listen to.

This is one of my favorite stories in this series, but Grace Grant is not a good narrator and she ruins this series. It’s such a shame that each couple didn’t have their own narrators who really acted them out as unique individuals. Better off reading the books

This book felt like an unedited first draft and the FMC was mostly a doormat who forgave way too easily

I love this series, but it would have benefitted from different narrators per book because each book is kinda similar, so after awhile, it adds a layer of confusion about which book you’re actually listening to because they all sound exactly the same.

The story is great with a believable and extended grovel, but the narrator sounds like a robot.

The narrators were incredible. As for the storyline, it’s been a day and I’ve already forgotten what this book was about. Save your credit

This book would have easily been 5 stars but this author is incapable of telling stories without drowning them in purple prose and repetitiveness. About 5 hours of this audiobook could have been cut and no one would notice because there was so much internal monologuing about the same things again and again that it became tedious to listen to. Please for the love of all that’s holy find editors who will help hone the writing and be honest.

My favorite audiobook

I love this audiobook. Every once in awhile, you’ll stumble across a new author and go into their book blind, and just have your world shook.

I love sports romances, but in Rush, football merely set the scene while character development was the star of this show.

Quick overview:

🏈 Ares Kincaid, Quarterback for the NY Giants, mix of alphahole and perceptive needling caretaker. Super tight knit family of siblings who he helped raise bc his father was an alcoholic.

🎨 Arianna Petrelli, recovering alcoholic, an artist with artist’s block, daughter of the NY Giants Head Coach.

When I read the synopsis, I was expecting just another forbidden romance in the sports world, but every single aspect of this book surprised me.

Towle’s writing style is so unique here, as not only is it beautifully written, but the minutia of Ares and Ari’s daily lives are woven in making them feel like real people - something I didn’t realize I was missing from books I’ve been reading lately.

The book’s real focus was Ari’s recovery from addiction and rebuilding her sense of worth and forging new relationships. Vicariously experiencing her struggles, her loneliness, her strength when challenged by and let down by Ares, was such a painful, yet beautiful journey as a reader, making me feel things from a book that I haven’t felt in a very long time.

It’s also only told from Ari’s perspective, which I normally don’t like but was so necessary to fully immerse yourself in her world and tag along on her ride to personal growth.

This is also the narrator, Brooke Bloomingdale‘s (aka Brittany Pressley) greatest performance ever, so I’d recommend the audiobook experience.

Seraphina Valentine is an amazing narrator. She has the ability to create distinctive character voices and emote believably - which brings the story to life.

And this was such a great conclusion to the series. I loved getting back into Nick and Becca's story.

I listen to a lot of audiobooks and I’ve never found another on par with how both narrators’ voices PERFECTLY fit their characters and are able to bring the other characters to life as believably.

This is Jacob Morgan's best performance IMO. The male perspective can sometimes feel a little too fantastical in romance books, because it's basically a woman’s voice channeled through her male characters. But in comes this talented actor and his otherworldly performance of the hero, Lance - from his tortured musings, playful flirting, youthful flashbacks, growly outbursts, to his painful heartbreak - brought that much needed masculine emotional nuance that can sometimes be lacking by merely reading the book.

After listening to this, I have a huge girl crush on Rose Dioro’s voice. Is this even a thing? I don’t know, but I get chills listening to her not only embody the sweet strength of the heroine, Poppy, but her performance of Lance’s angsty heartache – holy f’in hell batman! – it's next level.
