Historia
After years of bullying and cajoling others as a high-flying public relations boss, Agatha Raisin’s early retirement to the picture-postcard village of Carsley in the Cotswolds is a dream come true. And how better to begin making herself a local leading light than by entering the village quiche-making competition? Unburdened by old-fashioned ideas of fair play, the ruthless Agatha decides to ensure she wins by buying her entry from a London delicatessen.

Penelope Keith is the perfect Agatha
Revisado: 05-30-23
The narrator, Penelope Keith, is what makes this book a great listen. I've read the hardcopy and decided to listen to it as well. I am so glad that I did. I've listened to all the books in this series so far, and there have been several narrators, but none who compared to Ms. Keith. I hope she narrates all the future books in the series!
Now for the story itself. Agatha enters a quiche contest however, she doesn't cook. So, she does what anyone else would do and buys a quiche. When the judge dies from eating her quiche, she is soon found out and feels shamed in her new village town. Deciding to find out if the judge was murdered or if it was an unfortunate accident, she begins investigating on her own. Pitfalls and snares ensue. Perhaps detective work should be left to the police, or should it?

Historia
When Private Investigator Agatha Raisin learns that her friend and one-time lover Charles Fraith is to be married to a mysterious socialite, Miss Mary Brown-Field, she sees it as her duty to find out what she can about the woman. Coming up empty, Agatha - out of selfless concern for Charles, of course - does the only sensible thing she can think of: She crashes their wedding, which ends in a public altercation. Nursing a hangover the next morning, she gets a phone call from Charles, with even more disturbing news: Mary has been murdered.

A well done effort
Revisado: 03-27-23
While this book was not written by MC Beaton, it is still a fairly good story, and I think Ms. Beaton would be quite happy with how Agatha is continuing.

Historia
Driving home from a dinner party in the village of Sumpton Harcourt, Rory and Molly Harris, the new vicar and his wife, strain to see the road ahead - and then suddenly brake, screeching to a halt. Right in front of them, aglow in the headlights, a body hangs from a gnarled tree at the edge of town. An elderly spinster has been murdered - and the villagers are bewildered as to who would commit such a crime. Agatha Raisin rises to the occasion (a little glad for the excitement, to tell the truth, after a long run of lost cats and divorces on the books).

Alison Larkin is no Penelope Keith!
Revisado: 03-15-23
I have decided that I will not purchase any more Audible audiobooks in this series if they are not done by Penelope Keith, I'll rent the library book instead. Penelope Keith does a wonderful job on Agatha and all the characters. Ms. Larkin just reads, and poorly at that. She just doesn't put much into her performance which makes the listening painful.

I enjoy every Agatha Raisin story. But I do not like any other narrator other than Penelope Keith. The narrator of this book just simply destroyed it.

Historia
Even though Agatha Raisin loathes amateur dramatics, her friend Mrs. Bloxby, the vicar's wife, has persuaded her to support the local pantomime. Stifling a yawn at the production of Babes in the Woods, Agatha watches as the baker, playing an ogre, struts and threatens on the stage. Then a trapdoor opens… followed by a scream and then silence. Surely, this isn't the way the scene was rehearsed?

Historia
Agatha Raisin is bored. Her detective agency in the Cotswolds is thriving, but she'll scream if she has to deal with another missing cat or dog. Only two things seem to offer potential excitement: Christmas and her ex, James Lacey. This year Agatha is sure that if she invites James to a splendid Christmas dinner, their love will rekindle like a warm Yule log. But that fantasy will have to wait for now.

I like this series. I really like Rebecca Gibel's narration. You don't have to have read/listened to all the books in this series (19 to date) but it does help. I've been hooked since book 1 and hope there will be many more.

It's what social media really is!
Revisado: 10-06-22
I won't go into details about the storyline. Let me say the book centers around social media and it hits the target with how cruel and nasty people are when sitting in front of a keyboard. I found it easy to listen to this story or read from the actual book vs trying to read on my Kindle. The narrator is really good too, which helps.

Revisado: 10-06-22
What can I say, I really like Mary Kay Andrews' books. This one was a bit slower going than others and took a bit longer for me to get into, but all in all it was still a good listen and Kathleen McInerney is just awesome. I think she could make an insurance lecture sound interesting. If you are a fan of Mary Kay, then get this one too.

another great addition to the Coffeehouse Mysterie
Revisado: 01-04-20
These coffee House mysteries are such great cozy stories. if you haven't read one, do yourself a favor and start at the beginning. The audible narration is just perfect. The stories are well-written and entertaining and they make you want to go out to a coffee shop and have a vanilla latte. The mysteries keep you guessing who dunnit.
