Following this story since day 1.
Revisado: 08-28-20
"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
I live in Oregon and have followed this story all along. I learned some things that I had not heard before but, the book (I hate to say it) drags on.
It started out pretty good and if you don't know the story you should get this.
Towards the end of the story, it was repetitive and some useless information was added.
All in all, the narrator was good and it does tell the story of Kyron, which all of Oregon is aware of.
If you like true crime then I would give it a whirl.

Pleasantly Surprised
Revisado: 01-26-19
I have tried to listen to this book a couple of times and just could not get into it. Sometimes, it takes me a a couple of starts to get into a story.
Once I did get into it, the story was really good and I was pleasantly surprised. There were a couple of slow parts, but don't let that detour you from listening to it.
I think it's worth a credit.

Yet as Richard was accepted and drawn into their inner circle, he learned a terrifying secret that bound them to one another...a secret about an incident in the woods in the dead of night where an ancient rite was brough to brutal life...and lead to a gruesome death.

Best Read by Author Audiobook
Revisado: 01-26-19
I rarely purchase audiobooks read by the author. They just usually seem to just read the story, which makes it seem boring and dull. Donna Tartt did an excellent job in this book. I thought her narrating really added to this story, which is what a narrator should be doing.
Although, she was great at the reading, it did take me a short time to adjust to it. I cannot really pinpoint exactly why, and it was only with the main character. So, if you are listening and at first have trouble, don't stop because it does grow on you and that goes away.
I really liked this book and it is now on my favorites list.
I liked The Goldfinch better, but this book was well worth the credit. I recommend this book.

Story is good if you can handle the breathy narrator.
Revisado: 08-19-17
At first I liked the story and narrators. About halfway thru the story the one narrator got breathy and got to n my nerve. I'm trying to finish it cuz I like the story line. It's like someone scratching on a chalkboard.

Authors should not do their own narrating.
Revisado: 08-10-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I don't know about well spent, it was hard to get through because the author was reading instead of narrating. Good story, but different narrator please. If you can get past the first few chapters and adjust to the speed narrating its a sad but well told story about abuse.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Spilled Milk?
Brooke was a very brave girl who suffered things that she should not even known about. Very sad and I did cry.
What didn’t you like about K. L. Randis’s performance?
Not a thing. It was like she was reading aloud, too fast and without emotion. A good narrator would of made this a great book.
Did Spilled Milk inspire you to do anything?
Yes, to write this review because authors should not narrate.
Any additional comments?
none.

Kept me listening and didn't want it to end. Starting book 2 now. If you are looking for something with a little bit of everything. This is it. I did have to go back to the beginning and re listen to the financial part, so I could understand how it tied in. Great listen!
