Historia
Fledgling, Octavia E. Butler's final novel, is the story of a young amnesiac girl whose inhuman needs and abilities lead her to a startling conclusion: she is in fact a genetically modified 53-year-old vampire. Historia
It starts with a simple favor—an ordinary kindness mothers do for one another. When her best friend, Emily, asks Stephanie to pick up her son Nicky after school, she happily says yes. Nicky and her son, Miles, are classmates and best friends, and the five-year-olds love being together—just like she and Emily. A widow and stay-at-home mommy blogger living in woodsy suburban Connecticut, Stephanie was lonely until she met Emily, a sophisticated PR executive whose job in Manhattan demands so much of her time.

Historia
Childhood friends Patricia Delfine and Laurence Armstead didn't expect to see each other again after parting ways under mysterious circumstances during high school. After all, the development of magical powers and the invention of a two-second time machine could hardly fail to alarm one's peers and families. But now they're both adults, living in the hipster mecca San Francisco, and the planet is falling apart around them.

Ridiculous
Revisado: 09-18-17
This book is written as if for junior high students yet is filled with "adult" themes ( read: smut). Charlie Jane Anders is a joke of an author. Don't waste your money or credits.

Historia
Some 2,000 years after he walked the earth, Jesus Christ is still a hot topic. And for all the ridiculous, twisted, Da Vinci Code-esque conspiracy theories and lies about Jesus that have permeated popular culture and even the academy over the years, the truth about his character, nature, and work has not changed. So what exactly is the truth about Jesus Christ? That's the question the authors of Vintage Jesus seek to answer by breaking it down into a number of sub-questions about Jesus.

Making fun of ppl not equal to Jesus
Revisado: 12-18-16
I am a follower of Christ. I have heard good things about Mark Driscoll - that he is a guy that, "tells it like it is". I didn't realize, however, that "tell it like it is" is code for using crass humor (mostly by making fun of other people groups) to explain things about Jesus. It's not that the thrust of the book is unbiblical - it's just that I don't think it needs to be written at the expense of making fun of other people. Somehow, I don't think Jesus find this book all that funny.
Not cool, Driscoll.

Historia
It is a tale of ghosts, of madness, of revenge - of old alliances giving way to new intrigues. Denmark is changing, shaking off its medieval past. War with Norway is on the horizon. And Hamlet - son of the old king, nephew of the new - becomes increasingly entangled in a web of deception - and murder. Beautifully performed by actor Richard Armitage ("Thorin Oakenshield" in the Hobbit films), Hamlet, Prince of Denmark takes Shakespeare’s original into unexpected realms, reinventing a story we thought we knew.

Great book!

I love Shakespeare stories but not interested in learning how to read it. This book delivers a great story in contemporary language, keeping to the spirit of the original story.

One of the best books I've ever listened to
Revisado: 12-18-16
Trevor Noah's story is not just a story of what HAS happened in the life of one man, it's also a story of what IS happening to millions and what WILL happen if racial injustice is left unchecked. It's a story of courage accompanied with insight into the minds and hearts of different cultures and the individuals in those cultures. It's a story that helps break us out of our own narrow story to recognize and appreciate the story of others.

Historia
In this first novel, we are introduced to suave, handsome Tom Ripley: a young striver, newly arrived in the heady world of Manhattan in the 1950s. A product of a broken home, branded a "sissy" by his dismissive Aunt Dottie, Ripley becomes enamored of the moneyed world of his new friend, Dickie Greenleaf. This fondness turns obsessive when Ripley is sent to Italy to bring back his libertine pal, but he grows enraged by Dickie's ambivalent feelings for Marge, a charming American dilettante.

Love the show - hate the books
Revisado: 04-29-14
The reading of the books are horrible and does nothing to cover up the shallow plot lines. Should stick with what works - TV shows. Books is not Dr. Who's strong point.

Don't like the narrator
Revisado: 04-16-12
I've listened to many audio books and I have to say that I'm not impressed with this narrator. Much of the time I feel like she's yelling and she reads with too much over-dramatization. My suggestion - just read the book.

Told in Twain's unique style, Huck Finn's story is one of the greatest tales of love, respect, and human decency, told through the eyes of an unlearned, but big-hearted, boy.
