Worst narration I’ve ever experienced
Revisado: 10-22-22
I don’t review books. I feel it’s subjective. However, this narrator is one of the worst I’ve experienced. I kept listening due to my inability to just stop and not know how the story ends. The first two books in this series had a much better narrator. Why change? I’m am in constant pursuit of a good story with a good female narrator WITHOUT a British accent! Anyway, this narrator needs some training or a new job. Sorry!

Historia
Mary Claire O'Brien has hidden for as long as she can remember. During the week, with her father away in the city, Mary Claire feels like every other child - but on Fridays, everything changes. On Friday mornings, she rises onto her tiptoes and wraps her nightgown tightly around her legs to silence the swooshing sound she loves. She slowly becomes invisible. Hiding is how she remains safe; it's how she protects her mother.

Unique story- Worth the credit
Revisado: 01-08-22
I never review books but this one is new and there aren’t any reviews. I VALUE reviews. I don’t solely rely on them but do use them as a guide. This book needs a review. No spoilers
Narrator was good, not annoying. Accents were ok and most all words pronounced correctly.
The story is unique. The book kept my attention most of the time. I didn’t drift off from the story often as I went about my day. However, in retrospect, I’m not certain if the narrator drug out the story or if it actually was slow in places. Overall it was good, not great but definitely worth the credit.

Historia
For decades, the women in Meggie O’Rourke’s family have run Lace, Satin, and Baubles, a lingerie business that specializes in creations as exquisitely pretty as they are practical. The dynamic in Meggie’s family, however, is perpetually dysfunctional. In fact, if Meggie weren’t being summoned back to Portland, Oregon, by her grandmother, she’d be inclined to stay away all together. Since her husband’s death a year ago, Meggie’s emotions have been in constant flux, and so has her career as a documentary filmmaker. Finding ways to keep the family business afloat - and dealing with her squabbling sister and cousin - will at least give her a temporary focus.

Outstanding *****
Revisado: 02-04-21
I’ve read hundreds of books and listened to just about as many audiobooks. NEVER has a single book pulled so many emotions from me. It made me laugh, it made me angry for the characters and it made me cry (happy tears and sad tears). I have authors I love to read and narrators I love because they make the story or just their tone and cadence is enjoyable. I’ve listened to other books narrated by Xe Sands and she’s very good. However, this book was amazingly written it was enhanced a million times over by her narration!!! Every emotion she has was put into this book and thereby pulled from the reader. Do yourself a favor listen to this book, don’t read it, but be sure to have a good supply of tissues handy! Thanks ladies for a wonderful book!!!
