Historia
Atlantis: The Antediluvian World was published in 1882 by the Minnesotan author Ignatius L. Donnelly. He argues that all known ancient civilizations were descended from this lost land which once existed in the Atlantic Ocean, opposite the Mediterranean Sea. The author claimed that the description of this island given by Plato is not fable, but veritable history.

Wonderful thesis, rich tapestry of logos, mispronounciations galore
Revisado: 11-15-24
With a topic that can easily be construed as pseudoscience, the author delicately weaves support for a very interesting set of theses giving credit to the myth of Atlantis. Rich historical accounts otherwise overlooked make this book worth the read. The narrator however had a hard tone pronouncing a lot words. Words like Madeira, zodiacal, deluge, even lava. And aMERcan. And the accents are ridiculous and discrediting. Otherwise good, clear voice and very interesting read.

Great story, bad narrator
Revisado: 10-23-21
The vision shared in this novel is a beautiful one. A story of a world that we may have the option still to move towards. It is a vision of hope that I hold dearly.
The narrator has a great voice and cadence, but misread so many words. Basic things that indicate he has never been to the west coast or fixed things in his life (no offense, it just throws the reader off). Some mispronounced words: Placerville, lead (as in an electrical lead), assay... Will update as I remember and come across more. Hopefully this can be edited!

Irreverently delightful and thought provoking
Revisado: 06-30-20
This book is one of the most enjoyable reads I've experienced. I pored over this. He taught me so much about Leary and about Crowley that I was unaware of. Oh and the way he ties it all together at the end leaves one weeping and celebratory all at once. A nice blend of cerebral, reverent, skeptical and amusing leaving one with more questions than answers. Highly recommend. And the narration is great, albeit I can understand that others would have a hard time.
