Realistic portrayal of life
Revisado: 08-30-24
A great love story, with life getting in the way. I felt like this could be two high school friends from any town, USA.

I loved this book as it came from the make perspective. It was real, and heartfelt and so realistic.

Jerome Michael McLaughlin draws on 35 years of immersive study into human consciousness, individuality, and transcendentalism to persuasively and poetically asks us to recognize how each of us as self-aware, self-sovereign, and self-governing beings holds the key to our collective destiny.

Fascinating journey to define self
Revisado: 10-10-21
I didn’t know what to expect, but the title Intrigued me. Citing Plato, Socrates, Jesus and others, the author causes one to ponder the journey to discover self. Worth a listen.

Historia
The year was 1917. As a war raged across the world, young American women flocked to work, painting watches, clocks, and military dials with a special luminous substance made from radium. It was a fun job, lucrative and glamorous - the girls themselves shone brightly in the dark, covered head to toe in the dust from the paint. They were the radium girls. As the years passed, the women began to suffer from mysterious and crippling illnesses.

Don't buy this on audio
Revisado: 05-12-17
While the story of the Radium Girls is an important one, the book is sluggish and lacking anything interesting besides the facts of the history of the Radium Girls. I kept waiting for the story to take off, but it never did. The audio narrator was the worst I've ever heard. Even at 1.25 speed she was still painful to listen to.

Upsetting read
Revisado: 02-18-17
Very good book but I didn't like it purely because it was so upsetting and graphic. I want to believe that the level of harassment doesn't happen in the military but it very well may be true.
