Historia
For decades, the Hollander Estates winery has been the premier destination for lavish parties and romantic day trips on the North Fork of Long Island. But behind the lush vineyards and majestic estate house, the Hollander family fortunes have suffered and the threat of a sale brings old wounds to the surface. A Toast to The Women!
Revisado: 10-06-24
I love this story! …and I can never get enough of Julia Whelan’s stellar narration! A multi-layered story of love, family, business, and a lifetime of hopes and dreams woven into unexpected successes, failures, and realizations of missed opportunities. Locations are poignantly brought to life in full color, and spending time on a winery vineyard is such a relaxing read (or “listen”). It’s an endearing story of family self realization and reconciliation where the women move from behind the scenes to the forefront.

Shades of Film Noir, Web of Intrigue… can’t wait for the film version! Performance perfection from Catherine Steadman, and that rare cocktail of a deliciously self-narrated novel.

Historia
This classic tale is a fantastical fable of two dear friends - one of whom goes astray and is literally lost to the north woods, while the other undertakes an epic journey to rescue him. This charming, strange, and wonderful story is a timeless allegory about growing up and the challenges of staying true to one's self, and it served as the wintry inspiration for the blockbuster hit Frozen.

Precious retelling of a classic story, so well told for Audible. More than I expected but as detailed and visual as any classic can be told.

My Old Stomping Grounds
Revisado: 10-05-20
This story felt like quite the adventure to me, especially because it was set in a location and vocation where I'd spent over 25 years --L.A. Having worked in the arts, and having actually lived on a jacaranda-lined street only two blocks from LACMA, I found myself reminiscing over the many local details in this book. The story is intriguing, and I felt as if Elle was someone I knew, or at the very least, someone I've crossed paths with, IRL.

Entertaining

Love, sex, art, and money always make for a wild ride. I found this book to be an entertaining story, with colorful visuals, and just enough of a caper to keep me guessing. I'd love to see it as a film.

Where is Reality, really...?
Revisado: 09-22-20
An excellent performance by Daisy Ridley, for a captivating short story, which I'm afraid may be lost on most Americans (I say this, only because I am an American who's spent over a decade married to a Briton... ). That's all I can say, without spoilers, but I would advise, anyone listening to this title, stop everything and give it your full attention. Keep your wits about you, and go in with an open heart and mind. I'll be listening again, to go back and capture some of the nuances I might have missed, but for now, I can say it was enjoyable and captivating. A seemingly simple story for our modern times, but complicated by so many layers of consciousness. Kudos to Elinor Cook for crafting SO much into such a short span of time!

Historia
She’ll never forget...I’ll never forgive. People always notice my daughter, Isobel. How could they not? Incredibly beautiful...until she speaks. An unsettling little-girl voice, exactly like a child’s, but from the mouth of a full-grown woman. Izzie might look grown up, but inside she’s trapped. Caught in the day it happened...the day that broke her from within. Our family fell apart that day, and we never could pick up the pieces....

Lite Thriller
Revisado: 08-11-20
I was hoping for more depth, but maybe I shouldn't complain since I decided to try this title on "Daily Deal." I binged it all at once, since it is only 8 hours long. The first half never seemed to end, then the ending felt like being hit by a big bucket of water. The characters were all likable enough, and the narration was alright, if a bit too dramatic at the close of each chapter. Much of the story seemed to meander, and felt repetitive. Also, a little more detail about Grace herself wouldn't have gone amiss. Overall, it's good enough for a "lite" thriller but I wouldn't recommend it as something to get totally immersed in.
