Historia
Mercer Mann, a popular writer from Camino Island, is back on the beach, marrying her boyfriend, Thomas, in a seaside ceremony. Bruce Cable, infamous owner of Bay Books, performs the wedding. Afterward, Bruce tells Mercer that he has stumbled upon an incredible story. Mercer desperately needs an idea for her next novel, and Bruce now has one. The true story is about Dark Isle, a sliver of a barrier island not far off the North Florida coast. It was settled by freed slaves three hundred years ago, and their descendants lived there until 1955, when the last one was forced to leave.

Whoopie ruined the book! Keep your credit!
Revisado: 06-24-24
Whoopie ruined what was already just an alright story. Narration is obviously not a good career move for her. The mispronunciation, the long random pauses, and inflection in her voice were so bad it was a distraction for the story. I have been a big fan of the Camino Island stories since the beginning and was very much looking forward to Camino Ghosts. At this moment I am thoroughly disappointed. This book was unbelievably predictable and the narration was the worst I’ve ever heard. Save your credit!

Historia
Possibly the darkest and most shocking six scary short stories yet ever created from bestselling author Stephen R. King. An instinct of passion and disrespect for decency and humanity fill this volume of life experiences we mostly keep in the back of our conscience, never wanting to bring to the forefront. Its truly sick!

Glad this was free
Revisado: 03-20-24
First of all, you would think that, even with the narration being done by virtual voice and actual human would have checked its performance. That obviously did not happen so many mispronounced words!! it was terribly distracting and the voice is completely unappealing to listen to.
And if I had use a credit or $$ for this book, I would be livid with myself right now! These are just more stupid short stories, with even shorter, less satisfying endings from Stephen King. Apparently, at one point Mr. King was a great writer… even more apparent is that he is not anymore! Even though it’s free, it’s still a waste of time!

Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

How are people ok with this book?
Revisado: 01-15-24
In real life I have not heard the N-word as many times as I just did in this book. Not only was it slow, disinteresting and without any real character development to become attached to and care about…it was offensive!!!

It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Historia
Billie James' inheritance isn't much: a little money and a shack in the Mississippi Delta. The house once belonged to her father, a renowned black poet who died unexpectedly when Billie was four years old. Though Billie was there when the accident happened, she has no memory of that day - and she hasn't been back to the South since. Thirty years later, Billie returns, but her father's home is unnervingly secluded. As Billie encounters the locals, she hears a strange rumor: that she herself went missing on the day her father died.

Don’t waste your time
Revisado: 11-19-22
I’ll start with the one good thing…I like the dog! The beginning was good and I was very hopeful that we were returning to the time when you could count on a S. King book to be interesting and entertaining but unfortunately my hopes were dashed (again). The painfully slow story and disappointing “twists” left me bored and fast forwarding hoping that the story would pick up…it did not. This is a fairly long book to listen to…please don’t waste your time.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Awful
Revisado: 09-21-19
I do not understand how this book ever became number one on any list or why they would choose to turn this awful, sad, disaster into a movie. The acting done by the Audible reader was top-notch and easy to listen to. However I regret having wasted all those hours of my life with this book. Please take my advice and do not make the same mistake I made
