Historia
After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Great book with lovable characters
Revisado: 02-24-25
Great book with lovable characters. I’m being told my review isn’t long enough yet even though I have no more to say. So, here we are just typing awaiting the moment the red box is no longer showing around this form field It is kind of weird it has not gone away yet so I’m going to rep and submit. Should it be accepted I bit you adieu.

The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

My favorite book in the series so far. Perfection.
Revisado: 02-14-25
I’m not one for spoilers so I’ll just this, many of the characters show depth they’ve only ever alluded to in the past books. We saw flashes of it here and there but this book has more raw “human” emotion that took me by surprise in the best possible way.
Pony’s moment with his best friend literally brought tears to my eyes. Such an amazing addition to what was already my favorite series. I’ve just finished it for the second time since it came out 3 days ago. I’m starting again.

Historia
Agent Isaac Steele has problems. He spends all his splibs on drink and drugs. He has some deep-seated and very much unresolved issues with his parents. And his robotic partner at Greatest Britain’s Department of Clarification, Dr Timothy Stephens, is ruled more by his heart than his hard drive. But all these issues take a back seat when Isaac stumbles upon a case involving the most sensitive information in the cosmos - a Never File, inaccessible to all except those with the highest clearance. He is expressly forbidden to involve himself. So naturally he does.

It’s perfect
Revisado: 01-25-25
Honestly, I am thankful these are in the Audible Plus catalog but I would gladly pay for these books. I really hope the author, Daniel Rigby keeps writing this series and others with his effortless but brilliant sarcasm and unexpected moments. I don’t often give 5 star reviews and it’s incredible the author is also the narrator. It’s all so perfect.

The long-awaited sequel to Jake’s Magical Market is finally here—and now with more market! Well, not quite yet. First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Using a combination of his new powers, he threw himself backward through time, back to when the god that trapped him first rose to power.

Even better than the first
Revisado: 10-16-24
I’ve become a bit obsessed with litRPG and have been reading as many as I can get my hands on. I would put this in the top five with DCC, HWFWM, Cradle, The Wandering Inn (I know this one is lot for everyone). I honestly love these books so far and am starting book three as soon as I’m done writing this review.

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Free, but I would have paid.
Revisado: 10-10-24
There where moments the characters felt two dimensional but in the end they were fully fleshed out as this twisting story unfolded. I suspect the entire book exists as someone laid in bed one night and thought about a situation some people find themselves in being reversed which seems impossible unless….. I’m of course being intentionally vague simply because I hate spoilers. I listened to this book because it is free on Audible. I honestly had low expectations a but I would have paid for this book now that I know how great it was.

Perfect intro to what is sure to be an amazing series
Revisado: 09-19-24
I was so mad when I heard this book was being written before another TMC but this book did not disappoint. Just like TMC there is a wonderfully lovable group of people with a wide range of backgrounds. Richard Osman is just amazing at character development. This was a fun rollercoaster of a mystery that I was sad to finish. I can’t wait for the next book in this series as well.

Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

Thankfully there are no otters jumping into the river
Revisado: 09-06-24
I was somewhat nervous about this book as I couldn’t handle one more otter jumping into Heaven’s River. The book started out strong and then threw a fake that made me start to get Heaven’s River vibes. Thankfully it was a faint and the introduction of new beings. The book ends strong but in what I’ve learned to expect from modern science-fiction, that being it simply sets up the next book.
Glad I listened. It’s my second favorite book on the series.

Yikes, JD Kirk goes full Xenophobe
Revisado: 07-09-24
I am actually a little depressed about this book. I have enjoyed every book Barry J Hutchinson (aka JD Kirk) has written. This book, though entertaining, is filled with enough vitriol and xenophobia disguised as humor to almost be nausea inducing.
I understand the author is unhappy his adult son stepped in front of traffic as he failed to do the standard look both directions before crossing the street. He has somehow made his son’s poor life decision and the subsequent cost of medical care into a personal vendetta against the US. I’m just sad he used an amazing character like Bob Hoon instead of being happy with the ranting he already did in his newsletter. He’s taken a loathsome character that was redeemed by this spinoff series and made him a mirror image of the author’s own prejudices. Hey, but don’t worry he presents it as humor so it’s fine.
The audacity of Bob Hoon, or the author, to say/write how offensive any Scottish stereotype is in the midst of a book that is 90% intentionally offensive stereotypes about America is so ridiculously socially blind it’s moved beyond the absurd and right into the realm of open and unrestrained prejudice.
I cannot express my disappointment enough that the author wrote this book but then went further and self published it. I’ve personally always admired Scotland and its people. Sadly, I’m left wondering if they’re all just Englishmen living on an island with delusions of grandeur, or if it’s just one angry Englishmen living amongst Scots. Oh, and literally nobody thinks Scottish people are referred to as Scotch, that isn’t a thing.

Just what I was looking for
Revisado: 05-10-24
I wish there were more well written thrillers that take place in the wild. I enjoyed this book very much. It is oddly timeless for such a contemporary book. I got pangs of A River Runs Through It mixed with River Wild and maybe even Misery to an extent.
